"Brave Stereo Brave a Trip with One Step Trip"

For the second time this year, Winnipeg’s Brave Stereo will tour all over the Western end of Canada. This feat is made all the more impressive considering the four members have only called themselves a band for a mere five months. They’ve already toured with By Divine Right, and The Waking Eyes, and now Brave Stereo is set to share the stage with Vancouver band One Step Trip.

The two Canadian rock bands have eleven dates lined up for the eleventh month of the year (which would be November). Kicking off on November 7th in Edmonton, Alberta, the tour will continue until November 20th when they play Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The five months Brave Stereo has been a band has not only allowed them to tour the West twice, but also record an EP. The eponymous debut contains four tracks, one of which is available for download at www.bravestereo.com. The five-piece that is One Step Trip is also out to support their debut EP. There are two tracks from ‘As We Evolve’ on the band’s site (www.onesteptrip.com). - Soulshine.ca Writer: Jaclyn Arndt

"Kook Show Rocks Heroes"

Brave Stereo is from Winnipeg and is led by the phenomenal vocals of Jason Kirkness. He is backed up by an equally fantastic band, and their show was filled with solid intros, effortless transitions and stunning riffs. They especially lit up the crowd with their songs Romance and Goodnight America. Their sound falls into the rock category, on the louder, harder, more emotional side. Brave Stereo is excited about their soon-to-be-released debut CD. - By Robyn Roste

Bio

Jason Kirkness and Ryan Shaw formed BraveStereo in late June of 2004. Joshua Ayers came highly recommended through High North Records owner Joe Riccardo. Former session man, Santiago Silva, joined the band a few weeks later. Within their first six weeks as a band, they had opened for 3 major label bands in various Canadian cities and gone on their first Western Canadian Tour.

The tour included dates with By Divine Right and The Waking Eyes. The band was received very well, firing up the audiences, as a good opening act should. But tragedy unfolded as young Ryan Shaw dislocated his knee onstage in Surrey, BC.

With Ryan recuperated, the greater part of November was spent in a Ford Econoline in Western Canada with Vancouver band, One Step Trip and Kamloops natives, Kook Show. This tour was quite successful, and once again saw BraveStereo as an opening act.

The majority of early 2005 was spent in the studio demoing new material, and writing new songs. A short tour took place in March of 2005, but this time BraveStereo had to go out on their own.

Upon arrival at home, BraveStereo was entered into a few local Battle of the Bands. The group has made it to finals night in just about every competition they have entered. BraveStereo finished in the Top 10 in the Pyramid Cabaret’s Search for RA NRG which gave them free recording time at Unison Studio’s. Producer, Jack Shapira, used this time to produce the first BraveStereo single, “Desire.”
