Bio

She likes coffee, chocolate & black nail polish. She once dug the foundation of her own house and got her driver’s license so she could pick her mother up from a mental institution. As a child, she moved over 20 times, living in such bizarre places as a
working farm, a Catholic Church, and suburbia.

During this time, she became quite attached to music; first, in the cutthroat underworld of
competitive children’s chorales. Later, a stint in musical theatre culminated in a European tour. Recently she moved to New York City, picked up a guitar, and focused her efforts on songwriting. Perhaps due to her eccentric background, her songs range from gentle to wise to biting. She is currently studying history and her years of overpriced schooling are apparent in her literate lyrics.

Recently, she was showcased by the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and finished recording a CD entitled The World is Flat, produced by Chris Brown (Barenaked Ladies, Broken Social Scene) and featuring musicians Jane Scarpantoni (Lou Reed, Beck) and Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco).

Quotes:

“Brea Tremblay has the face of an angel, the body of a model, the wit of a cultured critic, and the heart of a true artist. Her melodies and lyrics are intelligent and surprising, sometimes cutting and cynical, and sometimes deep and tender, with a point of view that's completely unique, matched by a voice not afraid to reveal vulnerability. She can
laugh at herself and the world, and still make you think. Brea's a young woman who'd be a celebrity no matter what she did, because she's got that perfect combination of strength of confidence and humility, depth and humor; she's the 'valedictorian and the temptress', because she can stimulate your mind with her songs, and then stop your heart dead by just looking at you.”

Grammy nominated songwriter

"For me, the most compelling aspect of Brea's
songs is the highly literate & idiosyncratic
lyric writing, which spans a broad emotional
spectrum -- from tender to mocking to furious.
If you're a fan of intelligent, thought-provoking
songwriting, this is definitely for you."
