Biography

The Breeze Kings are making waves in the blues scene because they have something special. Call it talent, dedication, charisma, passion, on-stage chemistry … whatever it is, this classic blues combo is one of Atlanta's most popular and sought after bands.
The Breeze Kings formed in 1997 on a whim when a premier local blues club needed a house band for Thursday nights. Four up-and-coming local blues players who barely knew each other came together out of a mutual love for classic 50’s Chicago style blues. Word spread fast and today they perform over 200 shows per year all over the eastern USA and, in October 2012, completed their fourth multi-date tour of France.
Spotlighting complex guitar parts, explosive harmonica, and rock steady rhythms, their exciting and authentic blend of Chicago blues, Delta blues, and other regional styles has caught the attention of blues fans everywhere. Their energy has won over many new blues fans while their unwavering dedication to the time honored blues traditions has earned them the respect and admiration of many blues purists around the world. It’s no wonder the Breeze Kings have won Creative Loafing’s Best Blues Band in Atlanta award nine times (1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010) and were a top ten finalist at the 2005 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN.
The Breeze Kings have opened for Bo Diddley, Leon Russell, Steve Miller Band, George Thorogood, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker Band, Buckwheat Zydeco, Saffire-Uppity Blues Women, John Hammond, Eric Bibb, Otis Taylor and have shared the stage with many regional and national blues acts. They have performed live on the radio and their recorded music is regularly played on many local, regional, national and international blues radio and internet programs.
The Breeze Kings are also long time members of the Atlanta Blues Society. Bandleader Carlos Capote is the musical director of the “Blues In The Schools” program, which educates today’s youth about the music, culture, and traditions of the blues.
The Breeze Kings debut CD “Tying One On … for the People” was released in 1999 after two years of steady club performances. The CD showcases the band’s talent, influences, as well as their passion and commitment to the authentic sound and form of the classic Chicago blues labels from the 50’s and early 60’s. Everything was recorded live, in one night, in one room, with a couple of vintage mics and tube preamps, straight to ½ inch two track mono … just like the old days. No multitracking, mixing, or overdubbing. Just one night of sweat, soul and blues straight to tape
The Breeze Kings second CD "You Got To Bring Some To Get Some", released in 2003, pushed the band’s success and reputation to new levels. While staying true to their classic blues roots, the new CD features 9 original tunes, special guests, and showcases the band’s songwriting talents and musicianship. Nothing typical about this one. The sound moves you, the grooves are deep enough to fall into, and the lyrics are personal and stay with you for hours. You'll listen to it over and over.
The Breeze Kings third CD "Two Guys Live" features a live, all acoustic, performance by Capote (harmonica, vocals) and Ransone (guitar). It is an intimate recording in the spirit of the great coffehouse records of the 1960's.
The Breeze Kings most recent CD "Can't Stay Home" was released in 2012 and is hitting national and worldwide airwaves now.
All four Breeze ings CD's have been very well received by both critics and audiences with glowing reviews and radio play lists coming in from all over the world.
The Breeze Kings are not like every other blues band and they are gaining attention everywhere they go.

Sorry That You Put Me Down

Written By: James Ransone - The Breeze Kings

Hey... You're gone be sorry that you put me down
Hey... You're gone be sorry that you put me down
Sorry... that you put me down

Atlanta, baby it's a real small town
Atlanta, baby it's a real small town
Everybody knows how you put me down

Windy City, baby I got friends up there
Windy City, baby I got friends up there
If I leave here, wouldn't nobody care

You... won't see me baby I'm Chicago bound
You... won't see me baby I'm Chicago bound
Start all over in Chicago town

Hey... You're gone be sorry that you put me down
Hey... You're gone be sorry that you put me down
Sorry... that you put me down

Going To Decatur

Written By: J. Ransone

Going To Decatur ( J Ransone )

Well I’m going to Decatur
Pack my things and go
Well, I’m going to Decatur
Pack my things and go
Well them Decatur women make a, poor boy cry for more

I love them Atlanta women
Man they sure is fine
Yes, them Atlanta women
Man they sure is fine
But a Decatur girl make a, poor boy lose his mind

I got a woman in Decatur
She much to far away
I got a girl in Decatur
She much to far away
I got to move to Decatur I can, be with her night and day

(harp solo )

I love my Decatur woman
Until the day I die
I love my Decatur woman
Until the day I die
If that girl ever leave me gonna, hang my head and cry

(guitar solo)

Now my home’s in Decatur but I’m as
Lonesome as I can be
Now my home’s in Decatur but I’m as
Lonesome as I can be
Because my Decatur girl has moved, way across the sea

Tell Me Again Baby

Written By: Breeze Kings

Early Friday morning
Law man get me out of bed
Early Friday morning
Law man get me out of bed
I can't hardly hear him
For all the pounding in my head

Take me to the judge
How much do I have to pay
Take me to the judge
How much do I have to pay
But my wallet was too light
I blew my paycheck away
Blew my paycheck away
Blew my paycheck away

If I had the nerve
I'd surely live a life of crime
If I had the nerve
I'd surely live a life of crime
The way people do you
Keep you worried all the time

Tell me again baby
Why the way I feel is wrong
Tell me again baby
Why the way I feel is wrong
If I can't make you happy
Maybe you're better off alone

If I had the nerve
I'd surely live a life of crime
If I had the nerve
I'd surely live a life of crime
The way people do you
Mess your mind up all the time
Mess your mind up all the time
Mess your mind up all the time
Mess your mind up all the time
