Brendan Hackett

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

My songs have depth. The melodies are strong and catchy. The music is smart and concise, and I don't whine when I sing.

Biography

Following in the traditions of great singer/songwriters of the past, Brendan Hackett combines smart soulful lyrics with unforgettable melodies. His songs are smart compositions highlighted by a unique guitar style and intricate rhythms. Brendan draws influence from a wide variety of genres and artists: from Joe Strummer and Taj Mahal, to Wilco and Martin Sexton, from Social Distortion to Ray Lamontagne. With a charismatic stage presence Brendan has the ability to capture an audience and walk them through his vast catalog of original songs.
As the former front man for the eclectic rock band Runna Muck, he is no stranger to the stage. Runna Muck toured consistently throughout the northeast and performed with such acts as, The Lo Faber Band, Oteill Burbridge and the Peacemakers, They Might Be Giants, to name a few. Revolving Door magazine referred to Runna Muck as “arguably Albany’s best band.” Those years of experience on the road cemented the foundations to Brendan’s songwriting and musical sense.
Currently, Brendan performs regularly throughout New York City and the surrounding boroughs. With his band, The Bandelaro, or by himself Brendan can be found sharing his music on any given night. He has performed numerous times at CBGB in Manhattan, and his music can be heard in many of New York’s pubs. Also, Brendan is a member of the New York Singer/Songwriter Sessions, a consortium of talented New York artists. These artists are showcased regularly at New York’s songwriter’s Mecca, The Bitter End Café.
Most of his music can be found on the Internet. Brendan’s live performances are featured regularly on www.LIpodcast.com, the most downloaded pod cast on Itunes. On his webpage, www.brendanhackett.com, all of his recordings and some live performances can be downloaded at no charge.
