Brennin Hunt

With a grassroots word of mouth that has been buzzing since his 2004 independent release of Jean’s House, Brennin Hunt already has plenty of experience in his young career. He has opened shows for national acts in and around the Oklahoma area and Midwest. In an era when male singer-songwriters have become ever more pervasive, Hunt has the voice and the songs to stand out as a singular and enduring talent. In addition to penning the 10 originals on his debut album, Hunt also played guitar on all of the tracks.

Hunt started performing publicly in churches at the age of 13. After high school, he decided to forgo college to work on his music full time, and that is exactly what he has done. At the age of 22, he has already released two full-length CD’s and an EP. In 2007 Brennin traveled the USA and Canada and shared the stage with recording artist Jami Smith. Playing guitar and singing in her band. These experiences have been an education for Hunt on road life, songwriting, and staying true to one’s artistic sensibilities. By the end of 2007 he was on his own, writing and recording and fronting his own band.

The richness of Hunt’s songwriting has something to do with his small-town childhood in Harrah, OK, but Hunt also attributes it to a family laden with musical ability. “I started playing guitar when I was 12. My Grandma gave me my Dad’s old guitar and I couldn’t put it down,” Hunt remembers. The effect was immediate and life changing. A devout music disciple from his earliest years, Hunt credits the Eagles, Don Henley, Tom Petty and Eric Clapton as his major influences. When he started playing the guitar and writing songs, he tried to emulate these legends while finding a voice of his own. His own songs explore the themes of love, regret, loss, and hope with driving guitars, catchy melodies and soulful vocals.

Hunt’s dream is to create music that endures. “My dream is to do Rock, Folk, Ballads and Pop songs. A lot like the Eagles. “That’s why they are my favorite band because they create music that speaks to the masses,” Hunt says. In the past few years he has been working diligently toward his dream, and he has made sure that he is seeking out people that can help craft his art. Along with refining his guitar and piano skills, in 2007 he has enlisted a renowned vocal coach to work on control and strengthening his range. His songwriting and performing has become a full time adventure for him. Writing songs with other writers and by himself, he says he “has a new song idea everyday”.
