Still working on that hot first release.

Brian Pina is a singer-songwriter hailing from Newark, NJ. This weirdo is a cocktail of diverse ventures; lyrical prowess as a grand-slam finalist for Jersey City Slam, seductive stage charisma from 4 years hosting various productions, and dynamic musicality as a 14-year drummer and an 8-year guitarist. Together, the experiences bring forth an eclectic blues/folk sound informed by his Dominican-American upbringing, articulating his struggles with mental illness, queer identity, gender dysphoria, and a love for genre-bending style. Despite the winding tapestry of his experience, his aim has always been linear: pushing the paradigm forward.

Between April 2016 & November 2016, he hosted the prolific "Groov Cafe Poetry Night". 30-60 audience members a month helped to shed light on some of today's most immense poetry talent such as Jersey City poet laureate Rashad Wright, multi-slam-winning poet Nelly Bess, and many more.

In 2017, he coordinated one of Brightside Tavern's most successful musical outings, featuring himself alongside 5 other Latinx singer-songwriters in a production termed "The Latinx Showcase".

In 2018, he launched his most subversive project yet, "[P I N E S]". In it, he crafted a narrative touching on self-confidence and mental illness as an artist through social media posts, stage performance, & his own music. Accompanied by himself, a select set of props, and his Martin, the 3-act piece took place at venues such as Clash Bar in Clifton, QXT's in Newark, & Club Rock in Boonton, NJ. The final act has yet to be released.

The journey calcifies in 2019, where Brian forges a reputation as a singer-songwriter in the Jersey City scene. His showcases in staple Newark Ave. venues such as FM Bar & Pet Shop, as well as the vetted Spaghetti Sessions Showcase hosted in Congress Ave.'s own Fox & Crow, have placed him among some of the most beloved artists in the city's prolific music network.

Brian's upcoming 2019 EP release with Third Tribe Studios out of Newark, titled "Work Backwards", will be a concept EP covering familiar territory. Using clever rhythm work, unpredictable guitar play, & thoughtfully-constructed song sequencing, Brian hopes to capture the trust and love of lonely dreamers like himself, for himself.
