BandCountryAmericana

The Brian Burke Band is Texas Country Band (currently acoustic - full band by 8/05) with a hint of Americana and Southern Rock that can get any crowd drinkin' and kickin'. These guys are have an evergrowing following of college kids to grandparents that will follow them anywhere a car can drive.

Biography

Coming from a musical family Brian Burke was destined to be on stage. He first got his hands on a guitar at the young age of 10, and immediately came to love the thrill of playing for others. Brian spent most of his high school years sitting around and playing guitar with friends every chance he got, and was known to always show up with his guitar at parties. Word of Brian’s voice and guitar playing quickly spread throughout his high school and community and he began being asked to play at parties and events. After moving from Houston to College Station Brian sought out any open mic gigs he could find, including his most common appearances as Zapatos. The first addition to the Brian Burke band was a lead guitarist named John Logan that Brian met in Mexico. John’s melodic and quick guitar riffs were a perfect match for Brian’s music, and the two immediately began playing together. Now residing in College Station, Texas with a unique sound that mixes Texas country, Americana, with a twinge of Southern Rock, the two boys have a large following of folks that love to drink and party in various college communities. Brian and John are soon moving to Austin, TX where they are excited about adding both a drummer and bassist to their already amazing sound. Bottom line the guys love to play any and every live show they can, and love to play every show as if it were their last. You’ll be sure to find them at the nearest beer joint, bar, club, party, parking lot, or anywhere electricity is available.

Lyrics

I'll Still Try

Written By: Brian Burke

I don't know why
I feel this way anymore,
But I do

And I don't know why
I drink this way anymore,
But I do

Maybe its 'cause
I'm missin' you,
But I don't

Maybe its 'cause
I keep calling you,
But I won't

(Chrous)
No I won't try
To get you back
Just as long as you're kissing him
I won't try the things that I used to

And if you're the reason I feel this way
The reason that I cry
And I won't ask if you won't tell
But baby I'll still try

I wanted so bad
To call you tonight
So I did

And tell you about
Those stormy nights
So I did

Do you even want me back at all?
Please say yes
I know I've done some bad things in my life
So let me confess

(Chorus)

My heart broken lover
Yes I am
My lonely night in the covers
Yes I am

Give me another chance
To prove my love to you
'Cause I can't eat and I can't sleep
Lord I am so blue

(Chorus)

And I'm a strong man I know
Though my body might not show
So don't you think that I want to come running back to you

(Chorus)

I won't ask if you won't tell
But baby I'll still try

Live It Up

Written By: Brian Burke

Well I was just wondering what it is you see
Cause everytime I turn around you're staring back at me

So lets just in my car we'll drive down to the lake
Leave all you worries behind and drink the night away

(Chorus)
So come on in
And lets live it up
Burn it on all down the highway
Out destiny's up to us

And live it up
You know it sounds so true
So come on baby
I just wanna be with you

Well she came along and that night went on forever
The stars were all shining as we danced the night away

She swore that it was love at first sight
well I thiank God for that special night

And that's when she said...

(Chorus)

And I woke up that next morning - she was nowhere to be found
And I guess I would've looked, but my hangover pinned me to the ground

And that's when I said...

(Chrous)

So come on in
And lets live it up
Burn it on all down the highway
Out destiny's up to us

And live it up
You know it sounds so true
So come on baby
I just wanna be with you

You know I wanna be with you

Tryin' To Figure Out

Written By: Brian Burke

Well I don't have no money
And I don't have a job
I've been fighting with my girlfriend
We don't get along

I can't find the right solution
To fix the problems in my life
And I could sure use a vacation
Away from all this pain and strife

(Chorus)
And I'm learning the hard way
What the real world has in store
And the more and more I knock
I find that there's no one at the door
I'm trying and I'm trying
And I guess that there's no doubt
Where in the hell my life is going
You know I'm trying to figure out

You know life is kind of funny
One day's good the next is bad
Its like hard luck and bleedin'
Are the only things we have

And I'm just a waiting for the weekend
Just some time to get away
The people who don't know you
They don't have no bad things to say

(Chorus)

The harder that I try
The further down I dig my hole
Have you ever felt this way?
Can you hear my soul?

(Chorus)

Where in the hell my life is going
You know I'm trying to figure out

Nuthin' To Give

Written By: Brian Burke

I've been talking to angels
Every single day
They all tell me the same thing
In a different kind of way
The sun comes up tomorrow
The sun don't shine at night
And we aint getting no where
When we're living in this fight
So I roll
So I roll
Keep living in the past times
Keep searching for you dreams
But everyone around you knows
It ain't the way that it seems
So I roll
So I roll
Teach me how to be a man
Teach me how to live
'Cause I ain't goin' nowhere
Without nuthin' to give
And its all a big disaster
That we're living day to day
Keep asking all these questions
And I'll tell you its okay
But I dont mean what I say
When you're barking up my tree
Its all just coming undone
And this aint the way I want to be
So I roll
So I roll
Teach me how to be a man
Teach me how to live
'Cause I aint going nowhere
Without nuthin' to give
Well I've been talking to angels
Every single day
They all tell me the same thing
In a different kind of way
