"YOU'RE AN ELECTRON I'M AN ELECTRON Album Review"

One of the main problems with the singer/songwriter scene in Ireland at the moment is that there are just so many of them. In any given town or city there are always four or five guitar-toting troubadours who will spill their guts out on stage in the hope of being the next big thing. Of course with all these solo stars in waiting it can often be hard to stand out from the crowd. Thankfully Brian Canavan manages to do that and more. His quirky lyrics whicH references everyone's favourite number enthusiast (besides the Count from Sesame street) Carol Vorderman as well as (gasp) foolscap pages actually help mark him out as someone different. The singer also has a huge talent for making rousing choruses (Go, The Dogs) which at times could give Stephen Patrick Morrissey a run for his money. All in all You're an electron I'm an electron is a welcome surprise - Hotpress

Bio

People have described Brian Canavan as a) a hopeless romantic b) a hopeless boyfriend c) frightfully moody and d) unusually cheerful for someone who writes such serious songs. If you ever think of running away or falling in love or if you like musicals or dream of having the perfect cup of tea then my songs will resonate with you. I recorded and released YOU'RE AN ELECTRON I'M AN ELECTRON under my own steam in 2008 . I try to put equal effort into lyrics and melody and I hope it sounds like someone in his 30s who just hasn't managed to fit in yet. My music sounds like me meeting Radiohead (when they played loud guitars) meeting Rufus Wainwright meeting The Smiths. The album was described as uplifting and infectious pop (The Star), an absolute gem (Alan Jacques in Live 95fm, Limerick) whilst Hot Press said I was a huge talent that stood out from the crowd.

I also performed on The Last Broadcast, Popscene, Breakfast Express on Spin 1038 (Dublin station) and was artist of the week on the Rick O’Shea Show on 2FM (national station)
