"It Came From West Texas"

It's really no secret that a majority of country music involves drinking in some shape or form, and Lubbock's Brian Milson & The Short Road Bandprove that theory even with their band name. Established in December of 2003, their name comes from "The Strip" in Lubbock (where the entire town goes to buy their alcohol since the whole town is dry). And, of course "The Strip" is on a road known as the "Short Road." Made up of Brian Milson, Jason McBride, Steve Anderson, and Craig Tally, The S.R.B. specializes in the traditional country sound mixed with a taste of Texas. They play anything from Bob Wills to a few rock and roll calssics and this diversity can be heard on their debut CD, "Walkin' A Thin Line." If you haven't yet heard of Brian Milson, you soon will. - Good Times Magazine

Bio

Brian Milson was born and raised in Odessa, Texas and is a graduate of the storied Permian High School and the Permian Panther Football Program. Brian started singing in junior high school and it grew into a passion. At the age of 17 he picked up the guitar and learned to play. Brian was a member of the Permian High School Show Choir “Black Magic”, and that was really when he decided he wanted a musical career. He saw his friends who used to play a patio gig and realized that music was his calling!! He knew right then that was what he wanted to do. “Our music gives us a chance to express ourselves," Milson said. "For me, it is easiest to play my music and sing.” Brian was raised on old traditional country and old rock and roll, his influences range from Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams (Sr. and Jr.), Willie Nelson, George Strait, Temptations, Four Tops, The Rat Pack, and on into today’s Texas Music with Kevin Fowler and Pat Green. Milson has covered songs from Bruce Springsteen, Guy Clark, Mark David Manders, Jack Ingram, Steve Earle and Willie Nelson. After graduation from high school, Brian attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he received a Bachelor’s degree in business management. In the summer of 2002, Brian Milson would often be seen playing around Lubbock doing solo acoustic shows around town. In December of the next year Milson started, “The Short Road Band,” stating that they "wanted to always keep Lubbock with them," “The Strip,” a spot here in Lubbock where people have to go the buy their alcohol, is known as the Short Road. Brian started writing his own songs his freshman year in college after a breakup with a girlfriend and discovered that through some life experiences the writing came easy. Their debut CD, “Walkin’ a Thin Line,” produced by a powerful musician Jondan McBride, that was recently released with 9 of the 10 songs written or co-written by Brian, shows the versatility of his writing skills and showcases the band by mixing an array of sounds from a simple two step country song to a classic rock sound on to a powerful ballad. Every song on the album plays as a possible single for today’s radio. The band specializes in the traditional country sound mixed with a taste of Texas in the music. When they are not performing songs from the album they play anything from Bob Wills to a few rock and roll classics. Brian and the boys like to have fun on stage and give a high energy performance every time out. Band members include Brian Milson, lead vocals/songwriter, rhythm guitar; Craig Tally, bass guitar, harmony vocals; Eric Andrews, fiddle/songwriter; Casey Maines, lead guitar/harmony vocals; and Chad Maines, drums/percussion. This band will be a great headliner and outstanding addition to any venue, dancehall or festival.
