"Free People - "Who Is She? Meet LA Musician Brianna Falcone""

Meet the ethereal LA musician Brianna Falcone in a wonderfully sincere interview.

Upon first sight of Brianna Falcone, I was instantly mesmerized. Was it her confident, otherworldly disposition or those intense blue eyes? It was actually both — who needed to decide? The über-talented photographer Tina Deleon recently shared with me the photographs she took of this enchanting beauty in the bohemian California town of Topanga Canyon and, after seeing them, I was obliged to know more.

Brianna is a free spirit. Her gypsy soul pours out through her voice and the strums of her guitar. Her debut EP, which she wrote, is coming out early next year, and she’s clearly excited about it. “I made the EP with the amazing producer Matt Linesch, who’s also worked with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros!” Besides making music, Brianna loves to “go on adventures in nature, make art, teach yoga, travel and spend time with people I love.”

How would you describe your style of music to someone who hasn’t yet heard it?

Indie folk. Classic mellow rock-inspired, with a gypsy spirit and California beachy undertones.

Who has musically influenced you the most?

I love Joni Mitchell, The Mamas & the Papas, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen. I love lyrics, especially when they’re delivered with heart and vulnerability and authenticity. More recent artists that I dig would be Shakey Graves, Father John Misty, Valley Queen, Alabama Shakes, Tallest Man On Earth. Most heavily though would probably be Fleetwood Mac. Been listening to them since my little days. Stevie’s stage presence is like no other.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Smells the roses.

I love that! What’s something you can’t live without?

Bare feet on the Earth.

When did you first become involved with music?

Singing was always a second language to me…a way of expressing myself and feeling joy from a very young age. I’d sing to anything that was playing in the house and also make up my own tunes. At the age of four, I joined a children’s choir. I decided with conviction at age six that I wanted to be a musician and started playing guitar and began writing shortly after.

Haha. Besides being a convicted six year old, what kind of kid were you?

Definitely different. Magic was a huge part of my reality. I would run around our property in the countryside of Colorado and talk to trees and build houses for fairies. I felt like I had thoughts and realizations about life that not a lot of other kids had. But a very happy kid for sure.

Where do you find inspiration in life?

In life, I am superbly inspired by nature. Have you ever looked into a flower, I mean really took it in and wondered how such a perfect symmetrical magical colorful thing exists? That kind of thing really gets me. The intricacies of a flower and the vastness of the ocean. I’m inspired by my mom. Her amazing ability to love. My family. The incredible talent and dedication that so many of my friends have.

…And in music?

As far as music goes, writing helps keep me inspired. Journaling and seeing my inner workings in front of me in ink. Poetry (E.E. Cummings, Pablo Neruda etc.) always leaves me quite inspired too. Wise words. Anything that makes me feel something. Feel alive.

Who are some of your fashion icons?

All the 70s babes. Jane Birkin, Ali MacGraw, Stevie Nicks. Frida Kahlo — that woman knew how to embrace flowers and femininity like no other AND rocked men’s fashion insanely well too. I love a woman that can do that. Really anyone who does things differently. Organically. Colorfully.

Yes, I hear that! What would the soundtrack to your life be?

The album “Blue” by Joni Mitchell.

And finally, what does being free mean to you?

Acceptance of yourself and your life. Acceptance doesn’t mean that that’s exactly how you would have chosen it to be, but it simply means that you are no longer a victim. To accept life exactly as it comes, all the junk, the beauty, the changing currents, THAT is to be free.

"Fields of Gold Sessions - Brianna Falcone"

I first met Brianna a few years ago on the beach. There's something really beautiful about this wonderful lady from Colorado. She is warm, kind and sweet. She has this amazing presence. Her take on life is magic and I'm so excited to share her beautiful songs and voice with you.

The day we met on the beach Brianna was sitting and playing an ukulele on our common friends birthday. I immediately got so attached to her voice. It is so pure. And so Is she.

Brianna Falcones debut EP Lady of The Lake is coming out early 2016.

Make sure to visit her website and and follow her on Instagram @briannafalcone get all the updates.

Brianna was my first Fields Of Gold Artist together with Natalie Carol. We had a full moon giving us light and the sunset was magical.

We recorded two songs, "Places You Go" and "Left My Problems"

Bio

At the age of six, Brianna Falcone sat up in bed and told her mama with conviction that she wanted to become a professional singer.

The next week she joined a local choir where she would sing and write songs for the next ten years.

At 16 years old, she left the confinement of her small Colorado town and moved to Los Angeles to give her childhood dream—still vivid within her—a chance.

Her new world fed her. The legacy of California’s Laurel Canyon music scene of the ‘60s and ‘70s began to inspire her. Now grown, she writes and sings in LA and NYC.

You can find her on stage most Tuesday nights at The Bungalow in Santa Monica.

Brianna's music is at once wise and light, a free-spirited California sound grounded in Colorado's folk roots.

Budding gypsy enchantress of the SoCal scene, Brianna is releasing her debut EP early 2016.
