Brian O'Brien

Through his musical career, O'Brien has explored many different types of music. His sound comes down to the amalgamation of Three specific styles. Much like ingredients, they blend, Ultimately to create what is essentially his own unique recipe for song.
Most Prominent of these ingredients is undoubtedly his darker take on North American folk.
It is In here where Brian works with gritty and abrasive vocal tones, He uses these tones to expose the darker shades of his stories.
Secondly, Brian visits warmer tones in his voice, Tones that are inherent to classic R&B. The ornamentation of which smoothens the rough edges that govern his folk style.
Finally, Brian's third and most important ingredient, his words. Prose Is without a doubt what sets Brian apart from everybody else. What Brian has studied most in his 20 years of writing, is Lyric and poetry. Brian found a well of inspiration among the Great Irish writers and storytellers. 
It is from that inspiration that Brian feels an agelessness comes to ones music when you allow it's influence it to be touch by the genius of those who have gone before us. It grants us confidence in singing & performing our work late into our lives.

Brian O'Brien is currently preparing for the release of his first EP in Canada since winning the 2015 Landmark Events Artist Showcase. Following his success in 2015, He has spent the last 12 months recording and compiling music & video to share with his fans. He will tour the interior of British Columbia and much of Alberta this Spring 2017 with the "Neck of the Woods" Tour.  He will be performing at various festivals throughout the country this summer of 2017, but not before he travels back to his native Ireland to perform in celebration of his new release.
