"MusicGalley.Com"

"Brick Skin's unique signature combines acoustic guitar and alternative rock, fused together by an honest and effective vision. Keep an eye on them!" - Mary Ann Wilson

"Make a Star"

"Very much like the Stones and Lou Reed (with a real singer), this track [Worry] is derivative yet highly original in it’s approach and delivery... this track is infectious and holds my attention all the way through. The mood is awesome. Great job." - Make a Star

"GodsofMusic.com"

"Overall I think this is a songwriter who has some real talent and the ability to create a powerful mood...someone to definitely look out for in future."
- Irene Jackson

Bio

Brick Skin is the collaboration of two long-time friends: Steve Gottwals and Mirv Haggard. They started their first band when they were just 10 years of age and garnered huge popularity amongst their classmates until college split them up and sent Steve into Sacramento and Mirv into San Francisco.

While Steve maintained his focus on Pop music, forming a band called Section 8 that gained much popularity playing throughout the Sacramento region, Mirv joined the underground music scene by playing with the Limbomaniacs, which included Brian "Brain" Mantia, who later went on to play with Primus and is now currently drumming with Guns 'N Roses. Later, Mirv created his own band under the name of M.I.R.V., which has successfully toured both domestically and internationally with the likes of Primus and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), and has been featured on well known TV shows such as “The Real World” and “Beavis and Butthead”. M.I.R.V. is still performing to large audiences today.

When Steve decided to continue being an eternal student and to go on to Graduate School, Section 8 was disbanded and he spent the next phase of his career as an acoustic solo singer/songwriter performing mainly in coffee houses with his guitar. In 2001, Steve and Mirv joined forces again and formed ‘Brick Skin’, a collaboration combining Steve’s pop sensibilities with Mirv's extensive live and studio experience unleashing a new brand of "alternative-pop" music.
