Bridge fills the gap between a traditional approach to songwriting and a more modern sound.

"...we were going to be left alone on our butts at the other end of the continent. But why think about that when all the golden land's ahead of you and all kinds of unforseen events wait lurking to surprise you and make you glad you're alive to see?" Bridge is the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Mark Bridgeman. He began in Victoria, with the recording of Sea/City. This head-turning indie release was met with terrific reviews, and encouraged the further development of his art. Upon moving permanently to Vancouver, Mark joined forces with freelance musicians/music students Andrew Rasmussen, Josh Contant and Marcus Abramzik. Born in February 2008, this new incarnation of Bridge blends Mark's tunes with brand new cuts co-written by the new band, all molded into a fresh sound that is sure to make a mark on the Lower Mainland scene. With unique songwriting, catchy choruses, smooth vocals and an ear for the unusual, this band is quickly becoming one of Vancouver's hot new sounds.

For the new year Bridge will be releasing a new album, followed by a lengthy tour. One unmastered track from these sessions can be found on this EPK (true story).

Bridge's live show is both energetic and intimate, drawing on influences which include Ben Folds Five, John Mayer, Elliot Smith, Tom Petty and the Beatles.

Emily's got to drive

Written By: Mark Bridgeman

I wish everyone would fake a little excitement for a change, because you and I have been climbing up hillsides and there bringing us down everyday. If we ever get worn out, we turn to the horizon and we say: do you want to go to Manhattan? How about Berlin? We could get a nice east side flat, you could write and paint, paint me an ocean, make it deep enough to swim. Emily has got to drive, I'm in the backseat dreaming the day away, I know we're short for time, but slow down darling I want to see the leaves change. I'm taking a picture right now, the skyline will never look the same. Fast car will wait for you, tracy would have understood this game. Do you want to go to Manhattan? how about Berlin? we could get a nice eastside flat you could write and paint paint me an ocean make it deep enough to swim. I said right now I'm not sure, but I want it all the same so why not meet me in the middle, and we'll do this once again?
