"SIGNS OF LIFE 2008: BEST MUSIC SCENE - DENTON, TEXAS"

Coy, clever and shameless, Bridges and Blinking Lights sets its brazen pop hook-mongering in a weightless, irresistible bed of shoegaze. - Paste Magazine

"Best Local Music"

Hot damn, I cannot and will not stop listening to this album. From the soulful scruff of Jake Wilganowski's tenor to the spot-on harmonies and strings that add bang to gang vocals, it's what the South and a little '70s irresponsibility would do to your favorite Guided by Voices. Bridges have achieved amazing consistency from song to song. Without so much as one skipper, these Denton boys have struck indie pop gold. Standing is one hit off the vaporizer during a good nature documentary and then a random dance party. It's strong, it's sensitive and I want it to hold me. —M.M. - Dallas Observer

"In the Changer"

Somebody in this local indie act knows what the heck they're doing. One clue: the warm and melancholy songwriting (the winsome-then-wiggy harmonies and riffing on "Lazy Susan" are alone worth owning the disc), which sounds like My Morning Jacket on vacation in the Canadian wilderness. Another: When the recording quality on this disc begins to cant toward lo-fi, it snaps back to a crisp spaciousness (as on "Halfway Home"). Right now, Standing stands on its own as an exceptional local pop rock release. Mike Daniel - Dallas Morning News

Bio

Bridges & Blinking Lights began life in Denton, Texas as a catharsis for singer/guitarist Jake Wilganowski. Friends contributed to the project, and in early 2006, the quartet began work on what would eventually become "Standing on the Same Stick," a self-produced album released in late 2007 and tagged as one of the year’s best local releases. B&BL quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live shows and chunky
indie-americana hooks. In winter of 2008 the band began working with acclaimed TX engineer Matt Pence on their sophmore album "Heroes, Guns, & Snakes" to be released in March 2010 with promotion experts Team Clermont at the reigns. The band is currently completing several music videos and is planning a spring tour.
