Biography

Since forming in 2008, Bridges Out has had a single goal: to inject energy, emotion, and intensity into the music they create and perform. With a successful year of shows under their belt, the band entered the studio in the summer of 2009 to record their debut EP “Good Luck With Your Machine”. This album symbolizes a beginning; a starting gun which they intend to heed, not stopping for pain or hardship.

Twenty-Something Stasis

Written By: Bridges Out

You’re slowing down
You’re in the stasis now
Winter has come
Drinking the warmth from your bones.

Pry open our eyes - To find mountains on both sides - Sit patient like jaws – We brace for it but never move
Hot breath in the air - The scavengers in the street - With bottles in hand - and nothing to do but consume them selves
Just pick a direction - We’ll go so far
So sorry but its not safe here
Just pick a direction - And we’ll go so far
Just say it and we’ll go, we’ll go there

There’s no sleep
Just atrophy
We’re not waking up from this tonight
Our bodies turn like leaves
It’s not my place
To tell you what you need

Ooooo, Ooo,
Ooooo, Ooo,

Pry open your eyes - To find something is not right. - You’re fighting to move
The longer you wait – the further it falls from you – you stop trying to reach.
I know its calm inside – You’ve got to take it in stride – when thought that door madness scratches
You wait there,
You wait there

It’s loud and bright with washed out dead starlight. It takes its pittance right through the skin, right from the body.

As sirens cut, our bodies reconstruct. Don’t ask me why but
Somehow we work. Somehow it’s better.

Why did you wait there?

Jackals in the Nursery

Written By: Bridges Out

Do we need it that badly. Are we waiting to say?

You lost the drive that brought you here
Swept away
The stem is cut right from your throat
Gently put on ice.

That’s right. The world has let you down
Replaced our lives - Autonomous inside
It’s how the lips become defiled
With residue from trying to spit this one out

You’re so sure it’s not the way
You went about things
Make a mark for every day
That slips away

She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “I’m not the only one” Turns out when all is said and done
What lies beneath a stolen tongue? Do we need it that badly?

Don’t try to speak

Looks like we’re bound up in these cords
Pulled us tight
For reasons Infantile

It’s symbiotic hate you feed
The more it drags the more it bites its teeth down
So far you
Break the surface of the oceans
Entangle in the throws of twisted waves

Please, please articulate
Please, please
Or have the ravens got your tongue?

She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “I’m not the only one” Turns out when all is said and done
What lies beneath a stolen tongue? Do we need it that badly?

Welcome comforts become worries
Jackal prowls through the nursery

She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “all we have is time” Do we need it that badly?
She said “I’m not the only one” Turns out when all is said and done
What lies beneath a stolen tongue? Do we need it that badly?
You’re so sure it’s not the way you went about things
Make a mark for every day that slips away

Modus Operandi

Written By: Bridges Out

These hands mirror your own blistered and raw from their works unknown.
Scattered things litter the floor. To be expected when losing control

The dirt in my nails it haunts me with unclear details the sinking in my chest won’t let me rest

You wake and you work and you come home tired.
Cinching the neck with the ties required. And still when they look at you
You’ve got yourself together.
The night from your head drips into your feet. You’re waking to grave dirt between the sheets. And just when you feel it’s gone seems you’re wrong you’re wrong you’re wrong

Tell me these memories aren’t mine. Tell me when I wake

Who are you?
What have I done?
Who are you?

I’m not sure if I woke today. Dreams like leaves are blown away. If I had known I’m not alone and I’m not the only one trapped I this body
I’m not sure if I woke today. Dreams like leaves are blown away. If I had known I’m not alone and I’m not the only one trapped I this body

Where we used to sing the choir expelled us and tarnished our wings
Where we used to laugh now holds the weight of the stronger half

And every day gets worse. The weight it starts to take its course.
You’ve got time to spare as you begin your decent.
And every arid face will feed the fires of your disgrace
The hands are breaking through the soil to take you to your place

I’m not sure if I woke today. Dreams like leaves are blown away. If I had known I’m not alone and I’m not the only one trapped I this body
I’m not sure if I woke today. Dreams like leaves are blown away. If I had known I’m not alone and I’m not the only one trapped I this body

Who are you?
This isn’t real
Who are you?
