Bio

I was born to a father with phenomenal musical abilities and a passionate mother who lived her life on the road running lights for bands. You can say that music has been a part of my life all my life, so it is not surprising that I inherited both love and talent for the art. For many years, I was involved with choirs and gained an understanding of the classical side of music. However, I always wanted to be more like Pat Benatar than Sarah Brightman. Right out of high school I attended college and began writing music, but kept my secret talent behind my bedroom door.
Deciding to take a chance recording at a campus studio, I was heard by a local artist who offered to help me record more material. He also got me my first gig, encouraging me to get past the shyness and play for an audience. Less than a year later, in September of 2006, I recorded a live, all-original 17-song album called Home, becoming a forerunner for female musicians in Spokane, Washington. Despite the acclaim, I knew I had a lot to learn. I took some time for personal growth, working to improve my abilities as a songwriter and vocalist, finding what really defined me as an artist.
Toward the end of 2009, I decided to take a leap and pursue music as a career. I am a musical mutt: a mixture of soulful, bluesy, classic- southern rock, flavored with jazz, all expressed on an acoustic guitar. Some have identified hints of KT Tunstall, Brandi Carlile, and Jennifer Knapp, yet with a uniqueness that cannot be adequately labled. The songs I write come from my own struggles and challenges in life. However, they are written in attempt to bring hope to those who see very little around them. It is my strong belief that music transcends our logical mind, touching parts of the soul that can’t be reached in any other way. It is for this reason that I want the world to hear what I have to say.
In the past four years I’ve played numerous shows in Washington state, as well as gigs in Idaho, Oregon, Michigan and Oklahoma. I also had the opportunity to open for Minneapolis-based Mainstay on their way to Creation Festival in 2006. In October of 2009, I was asked to open for a sold-out NEEDTOBREATHE show with Ontario’s Serena Ryder, when no other local openers had played the tour. It has proven to be a turning point for my musical career. My home town of Spokane has been a great place to start out, but I’ve set my sights on a greater goal. I look forward to what the future brings.
