Biography

Born under the vast prairie skies of Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Matt Dorgan has become an experienced Singer, Songwriter and Musician. His emotive lyrics mixed with his sense for groove based hooks, make him an excellent crossover artist for the Canadian/US market. His newly recorded rock tracks (think Pearl Jam meets Thornley) features a broad mix of musical variety that is distinctly his own.

Matt has performed in a variety of venues from Mexican resorts to Club venues across Canada. He entertained guests nightly aboard the Ryndam Cruise Ship, with the main Stage Band, while sailing the Pacific Ocean. Upon returning to Canada, he rejoined the Jeff Morton Trio jazz combo. They have enjoyed radio success on CBC Canada and were featured on Canadian Idol with Theresa Sokyrka and are the only performing combo that has a weekly gig in Saskatchewan. (Lydia’s Pub)

Education, knowledge and experience are consistently used and seen in his craft of song writing and live performances. The songs off his first EP “Follow Your Way” and “Shine” were both #1 on the rock charts (radio306.com) for over 15 weeks straight. Matt and BRIDGEVIEW’s group of experienced musicians pride themselves on their tight, energetic live shows. They have been CBC’s featured artist-of-the-month on NewMusicCanada.com and have performed alongside top Canadian musicians, Butterfinger and The Salads.

Lyrics

Let

Written By: Matt Dorgan

Coming down, inside me, Let it all be seen
Save your life, Today, live for something
And you , you let it all come down, Won’t you let yourself be free
Won’t you? Coming down this road, Until you let yourself be free

Won’t you let it shine?
Won’t you let it shine on me?.. Today
Won’t you let it shine, let it shine, let it shine over me
Today…

Over Bridges, under valleys, we still stand
My heart for you, it beats, so tenderly
But you don’t let yourself, see I’m not with you anymore
Coming down this road, coming down this side,
Coming down we all have sin

Won’t you let it shine?
Won’t you let it shine on me?.. Today
Won’t you let it shine, let it shine, let it shine over me
Today…

Follow Your Way

Written By: Matt Dorgan

He is lost and marooned
Not knowing what to do
His thoughts they fleet him now
Head in the clouds

Follow your way
There’ll be better days
Follow your way
Just come back some day

He’s inching forward still
Going it alone
Please ease my burden now
Head in the clouds

Follow your way
There’ll be better days
Follow your way
Just come back some day

They all laugh and cajole
Not following the rules
His life there for all to see
It’s no mystery

It’s up to me
Who do you see?
It’s up to me…

He’s watching there, as the earth breaths beneath the moon
What was mine is yours now lost, what’s the cost?
All the tread marks on his soul, could not make a hole
It’s all done now, it’s undone now

Shine

Written By: Matt Dorgan

Down the line, off the track
You hear me coming, don’t look back
Pressing forward, onward still
Getting closer, you’ll see the grill

Here to end this chase, as I take my place
Your many haunting lies, are all that I despise
You think you have control, I won’t pay the toll
Cutting through that line, I am free to shine

Tires burning, black the trail
You see me coming, your face now pale
I’ll soon be free, of this rut
Tight the turn, the door’s now shut

Here to end this chase, as I take my place
Your many haunting lies, are all that I despise
You think you have control, I won’t pay the toll
Cutting through that line, I am free to shine

The time is now, well now’s the time (I can see the line)
We’re coming up door to door (as I hit the floor)
The many fears of all my years (now run through my gears)
I’m coming up on that line

I’ve done my time, I’m free to shine
The end is near, near for all my fears
You can’t control me
It’s the end of the line…
