Bio
Brighton Surly play smart, snappy, hip-swinging technofolk. Debuting their Purgatory Stories LP, the band is plying their unique brand of syncopated, sardonic soundscapes and creating musical narratives that stick in the head and the hearts of the alt rock crowd. Purgatory Stories, created at Junkshop Studios and produced by Dave MacKinnon of Fembots fame, features a kitchen sink of found sound, haunting harmonies and memorable melodies and an intelligent literate approach to story-telling that puts the band in company with Citizen Cope, Metric and The Flaming Lips. Julie Penner (DO MAKE SAY THINK, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE) and Alex McMaster (LILY FROST) also appear on this recording.
Brighton Surly is a featured artist on the first edition of Diesel U: Emerging Artists Showcase on Boston's WFNX-FM.
