The Longing

Written By: Brion Riborn

“The Longing”
by: Brion Riborn © 2005 Etymbiotic Music [ASCAP]

Days I’ve wasted
Dreams I’ve tasted that aren’t mine
Everyday said, “How I long for love sublime”

See, I’ve misplaced it
But you’ve erased my filthy crime
Iridescent promise covering the sky

Why am I waiting?
There’s only today

Oh I see heaven in your eyes
Eternity is where my heart lies
And all I need is all you ever give to me

Days I’ve wasted
Dreams I’ve tasted that aren’t mine
Everyday said, “How I long for love sublime”

See, I’ve misplaced it
But you’ve erased my filthy crime
Iridescent promise covering the sky

Why am I waiting?
There’s only today

Oh I see heaven in your eyes
Eternity is where my heart lies
And all I need is all you ever give to me

Oh I see heaven in your eyes
Eternity is where my heart lies
And all I need is all you ever give to me

All you ever give to me
Is every little thing that I need

My Myopia

Written By: Brion Riborn

"My Myopia" - Brion Riborn (c) 2006 Etymbiotic Music [ASCAP]

On comic books and in my dreams
The villain plots subconsciously
The colors bleed on every page
The battlefront's been rearranged

It's all pretend
It's all been fake
It's all an interesting mistake
So cross my heart and hope to die
There's a reason I can't fly

Hades lays its claim on me
My frail eyes make it hard to see
The ultraviolet light that's surrounding you and me
And bringing hope of so much more

My heel reminds me I am weak
Though mother wants the best for me
An open hand by Charon's side
For a couple coins we both can ride

Hades lays its claim on me
My frail eyes make it hard to see
The ultraviolet light that's surrounding you and me
And bringing hope of so much more

More... more
More... there's more
More... more
I know there's more
There's more

Now Hades has no claim on me
My rods and cones adapt to see
The ultraviolet light that's surrounding you and me
And bringing hope of more and more

Bringing hope of more and more
I tell you what
There's so much more
More...

Wonder Is Gone

Written By: Brion Riborn

“Wonder Is Gone"
by Brion Riborn (c) 2007 Etymbiotic Music [ASCAP]

Suddenly awake
Head is pounding hard now
Here comes another day
How she wishes she could sleep it all away
But then, you don’t know
All the bills she has to pay
All the mouths she has to feed

We believe in a wonder
Everyone says
We believe in a wonder above
But when the smiles turn to sadness
And hope turns to dread
We pretend
But the wonder is gone

He takes another drink
And fumbles for the car keys
He never stopped to think
What life would be like when
there’s no one to drive home to
There’s nothing left to hope for
There’s no one left to dream with
when your friends send you on your way

We believe in a wonder
Everyone says
We believe in a wonder above
But when the smiles turn to sadness
And hope turns to dread
We pretend
But the wonder is gone

Why do we pretend to believe in something that we cannot grasp?
What I need is to see the unseen
So give me a love that lasts
And I’ll believe in a wonder

We believe in a wonder
Everyone says
We believe in a wonder above
But when the smiles turn to sadness
And hope turns to dread
We pretend
But the wonder is gone

Get Back Up (Hallelujah)

Written By: Brion Riborn

“Get Back Up (Hallelujah)"
by Brion Riborn (c) 2007 Etymbiotic Music [ASCAP]

How you wish you were the lover
But you always pull the shortest straw
And you will not risk another call

So you’re trying to recover your composure
And the truth is that you can’t
‘Cause it’s feeling like another trap

But it is, “Hallelujah” you say to him,
“Get back up. It’s time to begin
‘cause we’re made of this hallelujah”

And our glory wants to govern
Oh how we should be ashamed
Go hide your head
But I think we’ll blame our brother instead

But it’s still, “Hallelujah” you say to him,
“So, get back up. It’s time to begin
‘cause we’re made of this hallelujah”

The Package

Written By: Brion Riborn

"The Package"
by Brion Riborn (c) 2006 Etymbiotic Music [ASCAP]

Inside a little house on the corner of a quiet street
There is a room kept dimly lit
That holds a misplaced invitation

Buried in a desk drawer beneath old magazines
And the get-well cards a young girl had received
some time ago when all the world seemed so young
Long ago

Cutting through the tape
It was clear to her that she had made a foolish mistake
Inside the package was a key accompanied by a note, which read:

“My dear daughter,
Won’t you join me here?
I’m waiting for you to arrive
I’ve prepared your room
I pray you come soon
And I’ll comfort you in my arms”

The ordinary seems to hide the extraordinary we would find
The ordinary seems to hide the extraordinary we would find
If we’d open our eyes
If we’d open our eyes

Oh, why don’t you leave?
Why do you stay?
Who says you can’t go home again?
Why, follow me
Why, I’m right here
Why, you should run to the way that is meant to be
And now it can be that way again
The way that is meant to be is passionate and free
For mice and men

“My dear daughter,
Won’t you join me here?
I’m waiting for you to arrive
I’ve prepared your room
I pray you come soon
And I’ll comfort you in my arms”
