Bio

Brit Pressley’s infectious blend of pop and hard rock is the kind of music that will get stuck in your head, and you won’t even mind! Her belting vibrato voice is clear and strong enough to be on the Broadway stage, yet when paired with hard rock riffs and poignantly stinging lyrics, it creates a sound that is emotionally raw but sonicly sharp. She places extreme emphasis on lyrical content, and although she draws from her own experiences, she manages to retain an essence of ambiguity which enables the listener to create an individual interpretation of the song.
A girl from the suburbs of North Carolina, Brit started performing at age five. At sixteen she formed and led an alternative band and performed throughout the state. However, her journey as a solo artist began after she moved to NYC in the summer of 2002. She fully expected to “take the town by storm” and be a “big star” in time for her return home over the Christmas Holiday later that year. However, Brit’s naïve teen dreams were dashed when she realized that a taped recording of her singing wasn’t exactly the ticket to success…..so she got to work!
“Over the past four years I have matured a great deal, both personally and musically. I have worked with some amazing people, (and sadly met my fair share of scammers!)…but not a moment has been wasted, as I have grown stronger and wiser with every experience and disappointment.”
In the fall of 2005, Brit put together a band, and began hitting the NYC stages. She has performed at Snitch and R&R (owned by Scott Weiland and Slash), as well as The Soul Café, Underscore, Bar 169, and the Living Room. During the summer of '06, Brit was a featured artist on THE NEXT BIG HIT volume 124, 125, (currently the largest independent internet music program). Additionally she won the site's "click to pick the next big hit"contest ( voted on by the podcast listeners). As a result of her success she interviewed for the volume 129 on-air podcast.
Most recently, Brit was nominated out of thousands to participate in the "BIG PUSH 2"(a songwriting competition sponsored by American Idol Underground), and so far has advanced to round 2!
Her co-produced a five song EP has garnered the attention and support of music industry insiders such as Steve Feinberg and Mike Martinovich of A Fein Martini (Good Charlotte and My Morning Jacket). The EP offers listeners the grit and emotional vulnerability of indie rock with the harmonic structures and catchy hooks of pop music. Brit's work is a reflection of her talent and soul. She states,
“I write about life, the good, the bad, the bitter, the petty, and optimistic. I have given up on trying to be cool. I’m not tortured and I’m not tough. Listening to my lyrics is the only time you'll get me vulnerable and unguarded. I am inspired and influenced by so many different artists, even if I never come close to resembling them. I want to make music that will intrigue, inspire, comfort, or at the very least provide you with a sonic treat. More than anything, I believe I can be the voice of a new generation of females who realize that one can be strong, independent, though-provoking and beautiful all at once.”
