The Rutledge was standing room only for the release of "Good Happens", Brittini's debut CD on Slugfest Records Nashville. The crowd was treated to a live performance and the video premiere of the title cut & first single. Several industry folks in attendance were radio show host, Billy Block, David Preston, BMI, manager Don Dortch, (Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Rich, Ronnie McDowell). Label head, Joe Mattis believes Brittini is a great talent and we’ve got a great team behind her. Nashville based, singer/songwriter Brittini Black is no stranger to the country music world. She has been performing for 10+ years and has shared the stage with the likes of Lonestar, Diamond Rio, Billy Ray Cyrus, etc… She focused on honing her chops as a singer on demos around Nashville and spent time writing with some of the top songwriters around Music City, which eventually led to her Slugfest Records debut album, “Good Happens.” Her modern pop country sound complete with her soulful voice shines through early on in the album on the ultra positive tracks like “Good Happens” and album opener “Life Is Good.” The positive vibes continue to show on tracks like “Knock Me Down,” where Black takes a look at the side of love that sweeps you off your feet. However, as upbeat as this album is, Black doesn’t forget to include a few ballads on here with an emphasis at tugging on your heart. Tracks like “Pawn Shop Angel,” follows a girl that is down on her luck and can’t see what she’s worth, while on “Be Brave,” she challenges the subject of the song to be strong and push through the hard times when the deck seems stacked against her. The standout track for my liking comes later in the album with “James White,” as the well-crafted lyric talks about a good man finding happiness through the words of a deacon’s prayer. Brittini Black is the real deal and she proves it on “Good Happens.” With her understanding of the business and the industry as a whole she has managed to do everything right with this release and is sure to catch a tremendous amount of buzz from the industry and modern country music fans alike. - Today's Country Magazine
Brittini Black was the guest of honor as she entertained her guests at the Rutledge in Nashville on a Monday night in Sept. The venue was standing room only with some of Nashville’s finest from Music Row on hand to help her celebrate her long time coming CD “Good Happens.”
Slugfest Records President, Joe Mattis, Nancy Peacock, who is A&R for the label along with Director of PR and Publicity Queenie Mullinix, welcomed long time music industry icons such as Billy Block, from Billy Block’s Western Beat and Hank Adam Locklin, from the Country Music Association. Also on hand was Brittini’s mom, Sandra Lee, who Brittini performed with as a duet earlier in her career.
With a voice described as “soulful but uniquely her own”, Brittini gave the crowd what they came to hear, from ballads and songs filled with inspiration to lyrics filled with spunk and delivered with attitude. Black has it all going for her, a beautiful young woman with a warmth and inviting charisma, add to her powerful voice and gift of showmanship that commands the attention on stage she deserves. Brittini Black is here to stay and mark my words she will be on the stage accepting an award in the very near future for “New Artist” or “The Horizon Award” or both! Her honesty and ability to put true felt emotion behind the lyrics is a natural talent and this young lady beams with joy as she does what she was born to do.
Singing six songs from her new release, Brittini opened the show with the viewing of her music video for “Good Happens”, which was shot on location at Tanya Tuckers estate outside of Nashville and several of the actors in the video were on hand at the Rutledge to see the final production. The final notes of the music video found everyone on their feet clapping, whistling and cheering and as a thank you, Brittini and her manager, Sandra Lee, had very unique and beautiful hand painted prints made of the scenes from the video made up in a panoramic poster and gave them as a thank you to those who contributed to the project. Brittini autographed and personalize them for each of those in attendance.
During the reception, Black also promoted her upcoming participation a new unscripted TV show titled “BREAKOUT: The Road to Stardom,” scheduled to air summer 2009. Be sure to watch for more information on this to be released by STAR TOUR on their website www.breakouttheroadtostardom.com.
Her music has been described as “hope filled” and her goal is to make a difference on the music scene. I think she already has.

Young new-comer, Brittini jumps onto the scene with her freshman album on Slugfest records. The positive, upbeat album-titled track ‘Good Happens’ has the right formula for a radio-friendly tune. Brittini’s only challenge is having a sound distinguishable from the other women in Country music, which I feel she accomplishes on several of her tunes. Her down-home, southern-style track ‘James White’ is one of my favorites because of the arrangement and integrity of her acoustic-infused music. Bio
Brittini is a beautiful, young Country Music singer/songwriter who was born with music in her soul. She began singing when she was 2 years old, and by age 8 she was singing intricate harmonies. By the time she was 12, as a member of a mother-daughter duo, a plan had been mapped out to pursue a career in Country Music. Over the next few years the duo opened for superstar country acts including Lonestar, Sammy Kershaw, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kenny Rogers and one of their most memorable performances was as the opener for Diamond Rio at the renowned Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. They also received airplay for several of their original songs on country radio stations throughout the west coast.
Brittini moved to Nashville in late 1998 and attended Belmont University, widely known for their prestigious music performance and music business programs, with fellow schoolmates Josh Turner, Sarah Buxton and Lauren Lucas. Brittini began doing many solo projects and performances during her time at Belmont and was selected to perform in Belmonts most prestigious showcase, The Best of the Best with alum Brad Paisley, held at the Ryman Auditorium.
Providing her vocal talents for demos in Nashville, Brittinis voice can be heard up and down Music Row. She is also an established songwriter and has written with many of the greatest songwriters in town. Brittini is a regular in the live music scene, had her own show for 2 years at Douglas Corner called Black Mondays and has performed at all the popular local venues including the world-renowned Bluebird Café. Brittini plays the mandolin, which has always been her favorite instrument, but she also plays a variety of other instruments including the piano, flute and guitar.
Brittini signed a record deal with Slugfest Records Nashville/ADA Warner Music Group in late 2007 and was cast in the new unscripted Television Show BREAKOUT-the road to stardom being developed for summer 2009. Brittinis debut record, Good Happens was released September 9, 2008 and in true form, she immediately set out on her first radio tour in an alternative fuel vehicle to promote the release of her first single Good Happens. With all the global issues were dealing with and the negativity in the news everyday, I wanted to put out an upbeat record so that I could get out there and help people focus on the good that happens all around us everyday its there, but sometimes we just dont see it. I want my music to help make people smile, even if its only for the few minutes that theyre listening to my songs. I think that being positive and hopeful is what helps us get through hard times.
Brittini landed a song in the new movie and soundtrack New in Town starring Rene Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. (in Theaters January 30, 2009) and her first single and music video for Good Happens is getting rave reviews. In fact, the video landed on GAC's Top 20 Countdown and is in full rotation on GAC and CMT Pure!
Brittini hopes to be a positive role model and wants to be a good example for her generation; to encourage her peers to follow their dreams no matter how big or impossible they seem. Brittini is a different kind of Artist who adds a new element to Country Music; one that blends hope-filled songs with her vocal range and mixed influences- ranging from Patsy Cline to Michael McDonald- all together.
I want my music to speak to others the way the music I love speaks to me. It can bring light to your darkest day; hope when you feel lost. Music moves us, and can move us to make a difference. Thats what I hope to do and inspire others to do as well.
