"Featured Musician: Britton Morgan"

Britton Morgan is an American rapper and record producer who has been actively involved with creating and producing original music since 2004. As a Bachelor of Science graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, he decided to focus on a professional career as a rapper and music producer instead of going directly to medical school. And since 2007, Britton has been one of the more common names circulating in the underground mix tape scene in Atlanta with a style that primarily blends the genres of hip-hop and jazz.

He works alongside his production team M.J.C and together they’ve had their beat instrumentals catch the attention of successful recording artists including Llyod and Bobby Valentino. They are continually attracting more and more fans of all ages and ethnicities. Today, Britton is continuing to exercise his focus on a professional career in the entertainment industry, while being persistent with his artistic ability and performing wherever possible.

Bio

STUDENT LOANS, A DEGREE, AND A DREAM:
It is a known fact that a good amount of college graduates go on to professional schools or get jobs within their field of study after graduation. Contrarily it is also a known fact that most college graduates go on throughout life working in various industries that have absolutely nothing to do with what they went to school for. While college can be very fulfilling and advantageous, it can also be deemed a four year road to a dead end assuming one is not able to or doesn’t want to go in the direction of their field of study. Some privileged people have the luxury of falling back on family businesses and or money from parents to sustain them while they journey through the gray shaded area of their future immediately after college; while others are left to figure it out on their own. For Britton Morgan, a recent Morehouse College graduate, figuring it out on his own was exactly what he intended to do.
Britton Renard Morgan (born December 2, 1984), who simply uses his first name as his stage name, is an up and coming American rapper hailing from Atlanta, Ga. He is set to release his debut mixtape, “Torn Portrait”, in the spring of 2011 and his currently sweeping the indie-hip hop scene with featured songs like “Sail Away” and “On My Shit”. An alternative rapper with a neo soul twist, Britton can definitely be described as: Diverse, Original, and Futuristic! Though a recent graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta with a degree in Biology, Britton decided to shift his focus from being a medical doctor to a rapper. When asked about the abrupt change in career path, Britton replies that it was never in his heart to practice medicine and that him becoming a doctor was just a vision and goal that belonged to his parents. Upon graduating from Morehouse, Britton decided to pursue a career in music as a professional rapper/producer, which coincidently has been a lifelong dream of his for quite some time. Rather than take the “safe road” of going directly into medical school, Britton has had to own up to his parents and family about his decision to take a leap of faith and pursue his dreams instead. Chicago born and Atlanta raised, Britton is a product of suburbia and has neither “gimmicks nor gangster tales”. Britton totally communicates his experiences through the eyes of someone who has lived the “middle class life”, and through his music Britton can be seen as a symbol for those who are dealing with the inconveniences of bad credit, heartbreak, and dream chasing in today’s hostile economy. Britton, the doctor turned up and coming rapper, is in full pursuit of his dreams and is creatively expressing himself using an alternative style of rap to convey his message. Be on the lookout!
