"New Possibles"

Brick & Mortar are the most creative and innovative band to come out of NJ, period. Their fusion of Indie Rock, and Drum and Bass draws a connection between Urban and Suburban, similar to what NJ is to NYC. Brick and Mortar bridge that gap, providing a voice for the disenchanted and uninspired. Brick and Mortar have created a template for finding one's self without the chemical hangover. Their songs are fueled by piece of mind and perspective that comes with a life lived in observation, while understanding consequence. Their playing ability outshines their contemporaries, breaking down walls created by most music genres, leaving those artists in the dust. They piece complicated song fragments that speak of a journey through your mind, body, and soul...only to produce a primal rhythm that was instilled in your DNA. Brick and mortar are building a movement, brick by brick... unidentified by any genre or style...Fuck your scene - Billy O'brien (Anchor & Hope)

"Brick+Mortar- Live"

Do not confuse these two with other duo performances you may have seen. Utilizing an arsenal of sound which includes prerecorded samples and loops to supplement their already thick drum and bass rhythms, Brick and Mortar eliminates all preconceived notions you may have had concerning a duo performance. - Rebellious Reflection

"Brick+Mortar"

“I only saw one show and I'm sold they will make it. Some bands have to conform to the world but in this case the world will have to conform to them”-Dysfunctional Radio Junkies - Dysfunctional Radio Junkies

"Review"

This is really unique stuff, and in a lot of ways it sits on the edge of my typical sensibilities, which I appreciate. These guys bill themselves as electro/concrete/indie, and they’re all that and more. Intelligent lyrics, a very raw sound, and a driving aggressive underpinning that amounts to something totally fresh. I’ve exchanged a few emails with John, the drummer, and for what it’s worth he seems like a pretty cool guy. Check out their EP…it isn’t what you’ve heard before. - (Two Nine) A Song A Day

"BUILDING BLOCKS"

A local act fromNewBrunswick,Brick
& Mortar’s traveling three-ring circus
is a funky kaleidescope of horror movie sound effects and dub basslines.
Combining live drums with synthesizers and samples, their vaguely menacing beats are perfect for watching Mystery Science Theatre 3000 while stoned on a rainy day.
Catch them at Lit Lounge
on March 24 for a glimpse into their
fractured psyche.
Brick&Mortar’s clanging and crashing
may be caused by massive amounts
of reverberation and other sundry special effects, but the music lurking underneath is surprisingly lyrical.

"Brick and Mortar"

If you havent seen this drum and bass duo, you haven't been to a good show in a while. Really interesting psychadelic drum and bass patterns coupled with interesting samples and loops. Its like watching Dan Deacon do a 2 man set of a WHY? show. Really fun live show.
-Billy O'brien - Shore Alternative

Bio

Brandon Asraf and bandmate John Tacon (drums, electronic samples, vocals) formed Brick + Mortar in 2010 to immediate critical buzz that's now rapidly approaching fever pitch, no doubt buoyed along by the excellent video for their song "Bangs" which premiered on Noisey this summer. The song's bass hits like a massive punch to the face and the narrative of the ultra-violent accompanying video, based on the life of Asraf's father, is likely one of the more brutal stories you've ever bore witness to. "This video opened the door for us to be more than a band. People seem to wait for that song to sing their hearts out at shows," explains Asraf of the impact the single has had on the band. "Bangs" was released on Mad Dragon Records as part of Motion City Soundtrack's Making Moves series, where the band featured their personal favorite rising artists in special 7" releases.

Aside from touring Brick + Mortar will also be busy with several other projects this fall, including putting out a fully animated music video created by artist Richie Brown and focusing on writing for their debut full length. "The goal is to make our album an audiovisual experience. I feel like the songs I am working with are my best yet. We are ready to make a full length record," says Asraf, obviously energized about future possibilities. And well he should be, for a band that has generated this much attention without even releasing a full length, this tour is the perfect opportunity to get the intense, captivating Brick + Mortar experience yourself.
