Bio

brokeMC, known simply as “broke” to his friends, has been rapping and capturing audiences for over 10 years across the country. After growing up all over the world from Greece to Nigeria to Florida, he has spent the past five years earning himself a name in the New York Underground scene as one of the hardest working performers in the city. broke is a staple at every notable hip-hop event and a standout performer who has graced most of the city’s favorite stages. Best known as an integral part of the MINDSpray Collective (www.mindsprayhiphop.com) and co-host of their weekly-turned-monthly open mic/showcase, he is also a founding member of the newly formed FALLDOWN Crew recognized for their local blowout events and a successful East Coast tour. Finally, he is one-half of the local BROKENDOMER (www.brokendomer.com) collaboration that rocked the New York circuit in support of their Spring 2006 release “Do You Copy?.”

broke has more than earned his reputation as a top-notch performer, an exceptional song-writer, off-the-charts freestyler, and a consummate professional. Rocking crowds of all types and sizes as a solo artist or with other MCs, DJs or bands, whether performing tracks from his substantial repertoire or spitting some off-the-top magic, broke commands a crowd’s attention and makes sure everyone has a good time. Even crowds that have never heard any of his music and sometimes profess to not even “like hip-hop” have a hard time turning away from his emotional and engaging stage show.

His self-released solo debut “Spillin’ My Guts” is a culmination of his experience in the New York underground. Decorative articulate wordplay paired with futuristic un-conventional beats makes this album stand on its own as a genre-defying tribute to the progression not only of hip-hop but of music in general. Audiences are drawn to his diverse topics and malleable cadence from the sing-song hooks of tracks like “Damaged Goods” to the machine-gun delivery of “Pure Entertainment.”

broke’s new LP “Make it better” which dropped in the summer of 2007 features production by himself, as well as beats from Natan Alla in Germany, Hooligan in Sweden, Nolan Fisher in Brooklyn, and the Magnanimous Domer. The crew cut “Evolution” features Falldown crew members Bisc1 (Embedded Joints) and Domer (Mindspray). Look for broke on the road this March on the 25 date UnNatural Disasters Tour with Metermaids, Sentence, and Domer.
