Broken Lane

Broken Lane

BandRockFolk

We're unique in a refreshing way. We have singable melodies, good arrangements, good personalities and stage presence. Our live show is exciting, our recordings are genuine and intimate. We feel we're the band of the future, determined yet humble, and we're ready to blow your minds.

Biography

In a world where musicianship sits second chair to image it’s rare to come across a band displaying both. With their genuine energy and charisma Broken Lane is a band of unparalleled personality on and off stage. Their fervor and vivaciousness plays well through their vehement vocals, and amusing manipulaton of timing and chord structure. The young quartet offers a professional execution of jazz and folk influence while holding a big gritty rock sound and tight four-part harmonies. In a generation of thoughtless minimalist musicians you'll have a headache of a time finding a more genuine, fun, refreshing, skilled, or good looking band. Not that they wouldn't encourage you to try.

Here in the Crowd

Written By: Broken Lane

Here in the Crowd
Find a way out
All walk one way
One falls, all stay

Singing Oh no
Oh no

Here raise one hand
Ask the question
Is this crowd a
Thing you're proud of

Hearing Don't know
Don't know

But, I know
We're losing on the inside
As we stop and go
Held together by our fear to fly
But Life
Is not a railroad
It's the sky

Count heads, take names
Same line, Same fate
Make same mistakes
Learning too late

Hearing why me?
Why me?

Why must fate be so judgemental
I never got a fair shot
It's too early to be over
Why does someone
Always have to stop

And I know
We're losing on the inside
As we stop and go
Held together by our fear to fly
But life
Is not a railroad
It's the sky

Thinking
Of this idea some call a perfect life
Getting
Away from it all
I'm betting
They wouldn't even enjoy the ride
The greater they go
The higher the fear that they'll fall

And I know
We're losing on the inside
As we stop and go
Held together by our fear to fly
But Life
Is not a railroad
Is not a railroad
Is not a railroad
It's the sky

Here in the crowd
Find a way out
Here in the crowd
Find a way out
Here in the crowd
Find a way out
Here in the crowd
Find a way out

Times Like These

Written By: Broken Lane

Sit next to me under the stars
She's more than cold bones in the wind
I'll take you to the other side
Close your eyes and let the time stretch in your head

Just five more minutes sitting here
She's never worrying herself
I take a piece of her cool
When the smell of her perfume makes me lose interest in everything else

They yell
Hurry up the soup is getting cold
But I don't worry about eating
At times like these

My heart is beating slow
I'm halfway convinced she has taken it
We're relaxed behind the scenes
Staring out into the falling sky

A churchbell rings in the distance
but, for once, I pay it no mind
'Cause she's writing on my hand
And it's better than anything this world has to say about the time

They yell
Hurry up the soup is getting cold
But I don't worry about eating at close range

I Yell back

Oh no, not time to go just yet
We just got comfortable
I don't care if dinner's almost ready
I'm not moving a muscle

Oh no, not time to go just yet
We just got comfortable
I don't care if dinner's almost ready
I'm not moving a muscle

It's times like these that make her worth the wait
It's times like these that make her worth the wait
It's times like these that make her worth the wait
It's times like these that make her worth the wait

Oh no, not time to go just yet
We just got comfortable
I don't care if dinner's almost ready
I'm not moving a muscle

Oh no, not time to go just yet
We just got comfortable
I don't care if dinner's almost ready
I'm not moving a muscle

Until she goes
Until she goes
Until she goes
Until she goes

It's times like these that make you worth the wait
It's times like these that make you worth the wait
It's times like these that make you worth the wait
It's times like these that make you worth the wait

When I get Through

Written By: Broken Lane

I changed my walk the other day
Move along I've got somewhere to go
Dropped my fear along the way
Speed loses to knowing where to go

Change is coming like a river coming down hill
You see it but you're standing still

So run and Hide
I'm here
To take out your defenses
Open your eyes
One last time
And take a mental picture
'Cause things won't be the same when I get Through

I switched my stride the other day
Time told me the past was all a lie
I burned the rules and tried to play
But was told the pipe dream had to die

Change is coming like a river down hill
You see it but you're standing still
If you don't take the last one I will
We need a new deal, not a refill

So run and hide
I'm here
To take out your defenses
Open your eyes
one last time
And take a mental picture
'Cause things won't be the same when I get Through

People standing there
Hands raised saying
I got it, I got it
Knowing damn well they can't stand the change

Putting hope
In yesterday, saying
I got it, I got it
I'm the sun in your eyes
Burning down the lie
Making the world pray for rain

So run and Hide
I'm here
To take out your defenses
Open your eyes
One last time
And take a mental picture
'Cause things won't be the same when I get Through

I came to let you know what is possible
I came to let you know what is possible
I came to let you know what is possible
I came to let you know what is possible

Yeah, yeah, yeah~!
