""Anything at All""

When I first met John O’Mara a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t think that I would be meeting one of the best singer/songwriters around. Boy, was I in for a surprise. John’s debut CD “Anything at All” (self produced – 2002) blew me away with its simple elegance and beauty. The song writing as well as the performance is stellar throughout. The lyrics are personal and poignant. After listening to the CD once, I found myself singing along. The songs were quickly becoming old friends. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite song, because they are all so good, although E99 and Mary Ann stand slightly above the rest. For me, John O’Mara has joined the elite of singer/songwriters in the world today. I put him in the same class as Stephen Duffy (Lilac Time), Terry Hall, Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera), Andy White, and Andy Partridge (XTC). Surely, John is not in the same style musically as these artists, but as far as delivering some of the best music around, John has arrived. I think it goes without saying how much I love Anything At All, and how much I’m looking forward to the next record. Onward and upward, John. Well done!

"If you like tunes that reach in and touch"

If you like tunes that reach in and touch, then this is a CD for you! Great guitar & such a mellow voice -- in one song John reminds me a lot of John Lennon - great listen - background music or good driving music. - C Talasek – CD Baby Records

Bio

Broken World is the latest formation of a duo of songwriters who have been working together for years; John O'Mara- Singer, Guitarist, Producer and Joe Johnson- Drummer, Songwriter, Guitarist.

The duo is currently writing material for an upcoming disk and performing live shows up and down the I-5 corridor, and the Portland metro area. Their melodic blend of adult alternative and folk injected rock is marked by brilliant writing, soulful playing and acrid pros.

John and Joe met in 1992 while playing in the Portland rock band "Doggett". While other members of the band went on to tour and record with "Everclear" and "Livewire", John and Joe followed the beat of their own souls. Eventually finding their paths crossing again.

The two worked together on John’s self released title "Anything at All", though they weren't a duo yet. "I was always trying to recruit Joe, writing songs that would fit our styles" say's John. "But it wasn't until I pulled off an Foo Fighters tune, that I think I finally had him convinced, our chemistry is vibrant".

Their melodically charged, highly professional shows include selections from "Anything at All", new and exciting material and carefully selected covers. Audiences always return to hear their own personal favorites. Quickly you will find that Broken World willl be one of your favorites as well.
