Biography


Brooke “Viosocalist” Alford, Artist of the Violin

A native of Pinehurst, NC currently residing in Atlanta, GA, Brooke “Viosocalist” Alford performs as an Artist of the Violin playing in the Contemporary Jazz and R&B styles. On the Atlanta music scene and nationally, she is known as The “Viosocalist”, who is a violin player who soulfully sings through the violin. Her debut album, Expressions, allows her listeners to not only experience the sounds of The “Viosocalist”, but to experience the violin itself, a Western European Classical instrument, in a “new light” and non-traditional way.
Brooke received her Bachelor of Music degree Cum Laude in Violin Performance under the prestigious Florida State University School of Music. She was under the instruction of the late Beth Newdome, former Associate Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. While studying at FSU, Brooke performed for World Renowned Jazz Violinist, Regina Carter during Mrs. Carter’s 2004 Atlanta Jazz Festival master class. Brooke also studied under the FSU International Program in London, England with Royal Philharmonic Violinist, Eric Chapman.

Brooke has been featured on BRAVO TV’s reality series, “Housewives of Atlanta” (2008) and Praise 97.5 FM (now 102.5FM) as their Guest Interviewee and Guest Artist during the “Gospel Jazz Series” at Villa Christina (2008). She has also been featured on Clark Atlanta’s 91.9FM “Jazz and Jeans” music series (2009 and 2010), and Trinity Broadcasting Network’s (TBN) “Praise the Lord” Program (September 29th, 2009), featured with Gospel Artist, Rodney Dean Boyden.

This year, Brooke interviewed on New Jersey’s popular LIVE online radio show “Best Kept Secret” (BKS 1 RADIO) during the “Live In The Vocal Booth” segment and performed for Smooth Jazz Great, Najee during the 2010 Inaugural Gala for the Mayor of Paterson, NJ. During the Inaugural Gala, Brooke also performed with New York’s popular radio show host for 98.7 Kiss FM (WRKS New York) Jeff Foxx on bass. In Paterson, NJ, Brooke shared the stage with Abeyance’s dynamic saxophonist, Tia Fuller at Jacksonville’s.

Brooke’s ultimate goal and mission is to touch the hearts of music lovers everywhere and inspire the upcoming generations through various styles of violin playing.
