Bio
Brooke Blackburn was born and raised in Toronto, and works as a professional musician in the downtown area. Brooke is a descendent of survivors of the underground railroad movement which aided runaway slaves in their journey to Canada and freedom. Growing up with numerous musical influences stemming from 1955 when his father Bobby Dean Blackburn started one of Toronto's first rock and roll bands. Brooke's history in Toronto has influenced him to co-write this song for the Toronto song contest.
Kristin Roberts was born in Houston, Texas. She moved with her family to Toronto at the age of seven. Writing and singing for most of her childhood, Kristin was invited at the age of 13 to sing the national anthem at Toronto's Sky Dome for the opening of a blue jays game. After returing to Toronto from university Kristin met up with Brooke to collaborate on a song that reflects their shared experiences of this diverse and unique city.
