"Living Tradition"

"The ensemble sound is rich, while at the same time there’s much fine detailing to occupy the ear. Vocal harmonies are solid and well managed, and Andrew and Mark complement each other admirably on any instrumental combination they choose to employ…."

- Living Tradition

"Roots Music CD’s of 2007"

“Andrew Cadie and Mark Bloomer are both accomplished folk musicians, but it's the joyful exuberance of their music which sets it apart, traditional political songs such as "Working Men of England" and "Chains of Tyranny" mix with self penned tracks such as the instrumental Shearer's No 9.”

Bio

Broom Bezzums is a compact, powerful live folk band comprising the talents and striking stage presence of Andrew Cadie and Mark Bloomer.

The music is a contemporary acoustic interpretation of English folk music and acclaimed original compositions featuring fiddle, Northumbrian pipes, guitars and mandola and rounded off with two powerful voices.

Equally popular in their home country as in their adopted home of Germany, Broom Bezzums have played festivals, clubs and halls all over the British Isles and mainland Europe including three appearances at Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival 2009. Their CDs are regularly played on BBC radio and attracted rave reviews worldwide.

Andrew studied traditional music at Newcastle University where his main tutors, Kathryn Tickell, Chris Stout and Chris Wood, are among the UK's top musicians. Mark's guitar and Mandola playing has been perfected over a decade of touring with various bands in Ireland and France and he brings with him the wild stories you'd expect from a modern day hobo.

Also in demand as session musicians, Mark and Andrew have countless CD credits to their names. With their increasing recognition among colleagues, the Bezzums get the chance to work with some inspiring musicians including a tour with England's most successful acoustic act, Show of Hands.
Andrew also recently took part on a sell-out tour of England with Sony Radio Award winner Jez Lowe.

Broom Bezzums, with their impressive musicianship, soulful delivery of mostly political songs and their typically British black humour have rapidly risen to be one of the leading acts on the folk scene today.
