"Who would have imagined thirty years ago, that a bluesman could gig with a laptop and keyboard. Not I.
Back in the seventies, I started working as a bass player and vocalist for local bands here in Colorado. As you know, it was a great time for music and music experimentation. Music education in the public schools was strong then and I surveyed many different genres trying to find my niche. The Blues were a given, like breathing, but I knew that my mark was to explore.
I followed the music to the East Coast and had the pleasure of playing backup keys and vocals in Speculation ( an upstate country band) and The Knick Knacks (an Italian Do Wop and Sixtes band) in New York City. My other gigs included choir direction and arranging spots. The only gig I ever wanted and didn't get was an audition for the U.S Army Band.
My first solo release was in 2004. 'Resume' is a blues album. It's focus is on the piano and vocal side of the blues. If you follow the links on this page you'll hear cuts from it and get a hint of where my music is going.
Tomorrow and the next album brings even greater challenges and music. It would be good to find a label that could support this walk into the blues as a world music and a music for the 22nd century.
