Grit City Grass will release their first CD, "Farther Down the Track" by the spring of 2009. SIX SONGS ON THEIR CD ARE ORIGINAL SONGS BY JOHN AND/OR PAM BROWN. Grit City Grass also won VFMA band championship in Chesterfield Virginia and the following categories,

The song that won the BAND category for the competition was "Will That Whistle Ever Blow" a song written by John Brown. We are so proud of him!
Grit City Grass won 2nd place at the Maury River Competition in Buena Vista, Va.

John and Pam Brown live in Virginia on the outskirts of the historic small town of Culpeper. John was born and raised in Culpeper while Pam was born and raised in nearby Woodbridge, Va. John and Pam have had a lifelong love of singing and writing and John has learned to play many instruments, coming up with many of the lovely melodies and arrangements of their songs. He also has penned many heart - wrenching lyrics of loss, pain and inspiration. Pam, on the other hand, writes lyrics that tell stories, sometimes with happy endings, sometimes not. Their different styles compliment each other well.
The Browns own a barber shop in Culpeper, Va and more than anything would love to throw their clippers in the trash and make a living writing songs. They spend nearly every free moment writing something new and are in the process of recording.
John is a member of the band GRIT CITY GRASS and these talented gentlemen have done many of the Browns' original songs. Many of the songs posted are the arrangements and performances of Grit City Grass, however, all are original songs that have been written by John and Pamela Brown. The other members of the band include Fred Anderson, a talented musician by night and high school teacher by day. Zeek Shifflet is a painter who loves to hunt and fish. Brandon Johnson is the youngest of the group at 23, and his hobbies are, well, playing music day and night. Andy Jobe is 26 and enjoys performing and telling jokes on stage. Their vocals are chilling and the Browns are thrilled to have them represent many of their songs.
