Formed in 2007 by guitarist Scotty B. Goode and frontman Liam Mackenzie, Brown Sugar is a four-piece Rock and Roll band set to take the Toronto music scene by storm. The band takes cues from classics like The Rolling Stones and Humble Pie, creating a modern brand of Southern Boogie Rock not often seen this side of 1973.
Originally from Vancouver, Mackenzie and Goode began writing and playing shows around BC and Ontario, creating enough buzz that they were invited to play the Langley Country Music Celebration in 2008. Just before Langley, the band travelled to Toronto to record their first demo. They enjoyed their stay so much that they decided to make the move permanent, officially becoming residents of Toronto in September. "Toronto's got a really great vibe," says Mackenzie, "we're looking forward to playing here."
Brown Sugar are currently rehearsing with their new rhythm section and preparing to hit Toronto's Boogie Halls and Dance Shacks in 2009.
