Bio

Bruce Smith's original Americana/Roots music is featured in a new full length motion picture "In Search of the American Dream", his holiday song, "Christmiss", was selected for Austin's Holiday HAAM Jam Fundraising effort and single The Fighter (Kristi), has raised thousands of dollars for fighting Breast Cancer.

Bruce's new CD, "'Til The Wheels Fall Off", is scheduled for January 2014 release. Featuring an homage to Buddy Holly ('59 Stratocaster), a rousing blues/rock requiem (30 Days) and a soulful New Orleans stomp (Time is Ours), the new CD continues the highly acclaimed sound of his previous works with Grammy Award Winner Randy Caballero and the legendary David Z (Prince, Etta James, Fine Young Cannibals...). As Bryan Beck of KGSR proclaimed "a great songwriter", Eric Brace of the Washington Post described as "powerful folk songs with a conscience" and Neal Fagan of Performing Songwriter magazine called “literate, descriptive lyrics with a unique point of view articulated in a way that’s intelligent and accessible”.

The Bruce Smith Band has performed with Gary Clark, Jr., Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Sexton, James McMurtry, Gary P. Nunn, Dale Watson and Carolyn Wonderland at ACL-Live Moody Theater, Antone's, Threadgill's and The Saxon Pub.
Bruce has also enjoyed a 5 year acoustic residency at Austin's Historic Driskill Hotel.

The Bruce Smith Band features Matt Hubbard (7 Walkers, Willie Nelson) on keys/harmonica/accordion, Jasper Cronym (Calvin Russell, The Vanguards) on lead guitar, Will Landin (Guy Forsyth, Jimmy LaFave, Gary P. Nunn) on bass, Bryan Austin (David Grissom) on drums and Bruce Smith on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

Check out “'Till The Wheels Fall Off’” and hear why KGSR, HAAM, The Austin Chronicle, The Washington Post and Performing Songwriter Magazine are tuning into Bruce Smith.
