Devil's Wind

Written By: Bruce Schweitzer

There's a cold wind blowin' out across the land,
It cuts you like a knife and chills you to the bone,
It's howling like a pack of wolves it roars just like a lion,
When the storm is over, you can hear the spirits moan.

The wind blew through the Rockies to a place called Columbine,
On a Reservation at Red Lake the cold wind blew,
The wind was felt at Thurston just west of the Cascades,
In the Blue Ridge Mountains at Blacksburg, the cold wind blew,

Chorus: It's a cold cold wind,
It's a cold cold wind,
It's a cold cold wind,
It's the Devil's wind,
When you feel his breath
You'll never come back again,
You'll never come back again.

Celebrate the lives of those who were lost,
And forgive all the ones that have done harm to you,
For only then can the broken hearts mend,
And give thanks to the Father who's all good and true.

This life can be over is less than a heartbeat,
So pray over your children each and every day,
Never take for granted that they'll always be with you,
Ask the Lord above to keep them from harms way.

Chorus: It's a cold cold wind,
It's a cold cold wind,
It's a cold cold wind,
It's the Devil's wind,
When you feel his breath,
You'll never come back again,
No you'll never come back again.

Where Have You Gone

Written By: Bruce Schweitzer

We started seeing changes,
and we knew things weren't quite right,
Neighbors noticed light on,
at odd hours of the night,
He knew it was time to quit driving,
when he asked for directions home,
After Mom died he spend two years,
in the house where I grew up, alone.

When the microwave he had wore out
I bought him another,
He was grateful and said thanks,
but to my younger brother,
He placed the daily paper
In a row by the front door,
He'd never open or read them,
so he could remember the day before.

Chorus: Where have you gone,
Are you someplace far away,
Are you lost and alone,
Can't you find your way back home,
Are you wandering in the winter of your life,
Are you wandering in the winter of your life.

He has four sons and a daughter,
but his memory of them's fading fast,
When you talk to him these days,
he's living his life in the past,
Sometimes he's unhitchin' the horses,
and he makes sure they all got fed,
He's tried real hard to hold on,
each night before he goes to bed.

At the Sunrise Country Manor,
is where he lives now and he's never alone,
The house where I grew up's been sold,
We auctioned everything he owned,
He likes to sit on the bench out front,
and watch the trains roll into town,
When he hears the distant whistle blow,
It makes a peaceful sound.

Distant Shores

Written By: Bruce Schweitzer

He was the youngest of four brothers,
born in nineteen thirty four,
When h is country called the boys left home,
to serve on a distant shore,
His Mom and Dad were praying,
For the safe return of their sons,
They knew that God was listening,
When he brought them home one by one.

He lived his life with honor,
and he walked this earth with pride,
Always thought of others,
long before he died,
You could always find him working hard,
to provide a better life,
You could tell he loved his family,
his home, job, and his wife.

Chorus: I sing this song for Becky,
I sing this song for Rob,
I sing this song for Jody,
I sing this song for Larr
Now He's gone on without them,
and they're left to carry on,
He's headed to another distant Shore,
He's headed to another distant shore.

He ran snow machines in the Rockies,
restored old cars like new,
He was a state champion shooter,
and he made his dreams come true,
He collected old guns and pistols,
Hunted turkeys, quail and geese,
He was a fighter to the end,
and he left this wold at peace.

My Dad's the last of four brothers,
that left home so many years before,
Some things he just wouldn't talk about,
The service or the war,
His time on earth will be over soon,
He'll be knocking on Heavens' door,
And the boys will be together again,
Once more on a distant shore.

Chorus: I sing this song for Jenny,
I sing this song for Bert,
I sing this song for Kenneth,
I sing this song for Floyd,
They've gone on before him,
and they're waiting on that shore,
He's made it to another distant shore,
He's made it to another distant shore.
tag: Yes, he's waiting on another distant shore.
