"Bruekke - The Loft EP"

i’ve been excited to write up this post for a while now…pretty much since i heard the first note of the loft EP from ontario’s bruekke (that’s brew-key). in fact, i’m not afraid to say that the track i have below is one of the best i’ve heard in quite a while, and sits smack dab in the middle of an EP that easily lands at the top of my favorites list thus far in 2011.

the loft EP was released just last month by other songs music co. (a little label that’ll be getting more love on vocal nerd rodeo in the very near future…check out my post on james hoffman here), and exactly portrays the kind of music that i love…acoustic guitar, banjo, piano, gorgeous harmonies and melodies that literally make me stop in my tracks. being an EP, there are only 3 songs to enjoy, leaving me pretty damn desperate for the details of a future full-length.

bruekke is made up of adam poot, brielle goheen, jeff wynands and tim selles, and i’d sure love it if you’d support ‘em by heading over here to purchase this gem for less than three bucks. anyway, i’m not good at explaining the track-by-track details of music this good…my head gets too jumbled up with joy…so as a sample, please enjoy the stream of ‘the shore’ below and HEAD HERE TO STREAM and PURCHASE THE REST (capital letters…do it). i’ve said if before, and i’ll say it again…i’m moving the hell to canada… - Vocal Nerd Rodeo

Bio

Hailing from throughout the Great White North and calling Hamilton, Ontario (Canada) home, Bruekke (you say it ‘brew-key’) crafts earnest songs, brimming with memorable moments. Thoughtful lyrics are layered by rich harmonies and woven with careful instrumentation, exploring everything from the profound to the mundane, from love and inner demons to the changing of the seasons. Their debut, The Loft EP, highlights the band’s songwriting.

Recorded in an organic, home-studio setting during the final weeks of 2010, the result is a raw acoustic sound that showcases the band's rich harmonies and folksy instrumentation.
