Bruised Apple

Bruised Apple

BandRockAdult Contemporary

Melodic acoustic pop/rock songs you just can't throw into one category, followed with a duet of strong male vocals, deep, and with a focus on the spirit.

Biography

Bruised Apple's songs touch upon several emotions ranging from joy to sorrow; intelligent, yet sensitive lyrics soothe the listening senses as they discuss relationships, longing, moving on, and a search for love that can only be found in praise.

Their debut album in 1998 'Time Expired' was a groundbreaking project, but this time the original song-writers, (Mann and Harmon) are back and better than ever, perhaps, even wiser in the direction they've taken.

Their music is vast in guitar work, accompanied by rich vocal harmonies and composed with good drum and bass arrangements. Hard rockin' grooves like Make it Through, Working on the Details and Princess of my Afternoons will have you singing along. Haunting ballads such as Butterfly, A Hard Week and Less than Whole will leave you deep in thought and on the edge of your seat.

Honest storytelling and soulful melodies make 'Working on the Details' a great soundtrack for those long drives, heck... great for any occasion! Once you pop in this CD we guarantee you'll never want to turn it off.

Princess of my Afternoons

Shadows on the moon.
A kingdom in gloom.
Shut inside she calls me from her room.
Her portrait in my heart has left me longing for
her voice to echo softly, longing for her soon.

I come inside out of the beating sun
with a restless mind and a heart undone.
This house is empty. There’s no laughter here,
just fingerprints and falling tears.

She was the princess of my afternoons,
when days were long and songs were new.
Our castle riding on the top of the sky.
At ‘Wonder-Lake’ the world goes by.
And I loved to call her my own.

On the gritty road a soldier of the crown
stumbles on the highway of his king.
Thirsty and alone he whispers
for the grace to stand.
The bitter wind has broken off these wings.

I tried to hold out for these feelings true,
the kind of love they bow down to.
But she was lonely and I wasn’t home.
Her heart began, began to roam. Oh yeah.

She was the princess of my afternoons
when days were long and songs were new.
She was the princess of my afternoons.
The moment’s gone. Is she gone too?
But I’d love to find her at home.

I can’t seem to find her lately…

Make it Through

Yes, I’ve seen it cover me.
Ten thousand islands in a porcelain sea.
The vessel broken into pieces of clay.
Shattered shards of earth remain.
Under the bridge the thought occurred to me.

Southward bound, slowing down,
our lives merging.
Who set the limit on this love?
Can we make it through the night,
the shadows of a sunset fading?
Can we reach into the light?

Sheets of silver from my eyes
help me make it through.
Find out where the answer lies.
Yes, I think I’ll make it through.
I know it’s true, yes I do.
Don’t let me lose my own way through.
Make it through.

Yes, I’ve heard it before.
Every night it seems for a thousand years.
The knocking on distant doors far away,
a pattern of a life that’s changing.
To make it through… the thought escapes me.

High tide. Fishing lines.
The moment that the sun had gone down
he was still hiding from the light.

So let us meet here with our ghosts,
aberrations on the edge of Queens:
The shadows of ones that we have loved the most.

Afterthoughts

Written By: Bruised Apple - *All songs © 2007. All rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication is a violation of a

Like a wind caught in a whirl,
Super-dynamic sunshine girl
drawing me into her world,
where gray's dispelled inside,
the walls of the purple paradise.

And in the morning she’s
pristine and in the evening.
She’s more than she seems.
Something behind her eyes
un-does me again.

Could this be real?
Could this be right?
Could this be something special, oh Lord?
Let this be true.
Let this be right.
Let this be something beautiful, aflight.

I might not dazzle you with words,
or read books left on reserve.
But I know of loving you.
Oh its true, I’m into you.
I love to watch you move.

But in your heart am I an afterthought,
pushed to the back of the lot
drowning in the wake of a pleasure cruise?

And in your kiss I take in seasons,
the taste of summer on your tongue.
And I’m the fool who wants to sing you
back into his arms. Back into my arms…

Working on the Details

Footsteps, side by side
the streets and subdivided lines.
You and I on Sunday afternoon.

I left the house, had a bumpy ride,
made it to the Brooklyn side on time
with a pastry in my hand.

We took the train, studied the faces,
and billboards calling out our names.
I left things up to you.

Don’t wanna face it.
Only breaks my heart.
Let’s make it or break it.
Been like this from the start.

Sunshine laughs heard through the ceiling.
Photographs and silly games we played.

The afternoon stretches out in twilight.
Walking 14th Street, coffee in our hands.
In the park a lady doing
portraits of April oddities.
She’s working on the details.

The farmer’s market empty on this Sunday.
All is open space now. And I know I love you.

Weathered Moon

Man has placed his foot upon
the surface of the moon.
Two hundred thirty thousand miles
there and back so soon.

Looking out beyond the stars to scratch
the surface of the living God.
Over and over. Again and again.
Like going in circles it’s the way it has been.

Your picture’s on my mind,
the breaking of bread, drinking new wine.
Altogether at the foot of the bed,
with ghosts from the past paying their last.

Footprints made in lunar sand
demand the attention of a mortal man.
Dust of ages settle in.
An inch or more it wears quite thin.

Disengaged outside the door.
The portal is closing. Visibility is poor.
Has all of this been in vain?
We keep on movin’ and ignoring the pain.

Your picture’s on my mind,
the pattern and tone, the tracing of line.
I see through a garden’s gate.
It was no lie or a twist of fate.

Maybe there’s just no more to say.
How many reasons in the way?
Promises fading on the page,
and now the son has come of age.

When there’s nothing more to say,
how many reasons in the way?
Promises fading on the page.
Even the moon must see decay.

Man has placed his foot upon
the surface of the moon.
Two hundred thirty thousand miles
there and back so soon.
Over and over. Again and again.
It’s the way it has been.

Can you help me find you near?
My E.S.P doesn’t work so well.
Let me make this real, real clear.
That word by word I will spell
your imaginary name.
And your love, I will frame.
I will make you feel good.
Am I understood?

Let me hold you close, my dear.
I see you’re lonely. Can’t you tell?
Can you help me conquer this fear?
The world for you, I would sell.

You’re so beautiful, I say.
And your love is the same.
I will be here for you.
Am I understood?

This Sorrow

Written By: Bruised Apple - *All songs © 2007. All rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication is a violation of a

Endless erasure of mind,
with all the things I’ve lost and sacrificed.
Painless torture; kill me.
But I guess what’ll be will be.

Thoughts gone with my life, they are.
You sure don’t worry for what’s gone far.
Endless never ending; surrendering myself.

I’m losing control. Down in this hole you are fallen.
Losing control. And doubt in my heart you have stolen.
Losing all. It’s your sorrow I’d like to borrow.

Mindless correction, but I flaw,
with all the things I’ve eaten raw.
Stainless blood covers me.
But I guess you you’ll be who you’ll be.

Dreams drowning in despair.
Your lies to me, a nightmare.
Mindless suffering while stumbling, yourself.

Out Here

I wanna leave this town tonight.
Where am I gonna go?
And you believe in fairy tales.
Well, who would’ve known?

Somebody told me that angels exist.
They don’t know any better,
because it is you that I have missed.
And baby, I don’t know what to do.

Would I go tomorrow?
When I go, could I leave this sorrow?
Will I go tomorrow? Where do I go?
I’m heading down the road.

I’m gonna swim through a deep lake.
Why am I going slow?
You’re the only reason I would die.
Well, what do you know?

Somebody show me what I must do
to overcome confusion.
Oh, I need a girl who’ll stay with me.
That someone has got to be you.

And even on cold nights I cry,
'cuz you’re not here beside me.
And all this time I will wait;
causing this fear inside me.

I’m feelin’ so alone.
So I’m coming home.
And even out here,
I wonder if I’m ever gonna go.

Too Much Gone

Buried love, sweetly within the unknown dew.
Blind and gifted, and not good for the soul abused.

There’s no way out. Too much is gone.
So unsure if we right that wrong.
Sometimes you can’t hold on.

Carry me. Sweep me away cause’ I feel so blue.
And find this part of me on a falling star too.

There’s no reason we can’t get along.
So insecure if “ us ” have nowhere to go.
Sometimes you can’t move on; keep falling down.

Why must I live this way?
I’ve given up my wrong ways. Anyway…
Why must we live this way?
I’ve given thought to this delay. Well, anyway…

Why must it end this way?
I’m still numb from the things you said. You gave me pain.
Why must you die on me?
I still remember yesterday like any day.

Negative thoughts creeping up.
I’m a scared little child.
Never give trust? You must!
If you treat it bad it’ll go away from you.

In the Fog

Earth and Fire...
Wind and Water...

Comes falling in the night, blackened wings.
Another sacrificed.
Comes crashing down,
the deafening sound of a bitter sigh.

The risen one, sword in hand, ablaze with fire.
Let the battle begin.
The dragon, he must die.

Will they walk in the fog?

Running villagers fearing the demon’s blazing flight.
Come on ye people, your deaths shall be avenged tonight.
The dragon, here he comes.
You better run!

Will you walk in the fog?
Come in and seek the light.
Walk in the fog, feel the wind blow on you.
Your spirit’s going to fly.

The pages turning;
Choirs of angels turn away and cry.
They are saddened.
Silver tears have never run so dry.

Will they tread in the fog?
To call your name? (not really)
Broken bones won’t heal today, no…

The oceans rise where I can hear her raindrops.
My heart’s been torn into pieces 'cuz she’s lost.
But is she?
Well, is she?
God, is she?
Is she lost?
Is my baby lost in the fog?
Or am I the only one?

Come in the fog…

More than just a day

She doesn’t sleep much at all.
Those bad dreams, they keep her up.
The ones she tries hard to forget. (we’re going to forget)
I don’t know what I’m sayin’,
but I know I better stay in
and hold her close till sunset.

Maybe I don’t know what you’re feelin’ inside.
But lately I’ve been waiting for This keeps on making my mind go wild.
Don’t wanna lose you. Yet, I’m afraid.
I gotta tell you how much I hurt.
Not just for a while…
More than just a day.

Her choice of words are not angry.
Like a poem, it gets tangy.
I’m going to surrender. (We’re going to surrender)
Days it seems like I’m never
quick enough to get myself there.
I wanna admire your splendor.

Crazy things ya got me feelin’ inside.
Honey, I been waitin’ all my restless life.

I keep on driving for many miles.
Should I hope that you can stay?
I choose to be there right by your side.
Not just for a while…
More than just a day… yeah.

Can it really happen, love at first sight?
Is there such a thing as blind romance?
You must free your mind.
Set your heart free.
There’s no regrets, you’re going to see, yeah…

Vicious Cycle

Written By: Bruised Apple - *All songs © 2007. All rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication is a violation of a

You keep on callin’.
Have I gone too far to reach?
And I’m always fallin’.
Won’t you help me to my feet?

You can’ tell me.
That everything was fine.
And you might’ve shown me.
those daily truths you hide.

Can we survive the change in the weather?
It’s cold in the castle. I’m waiting.

Caught in a vicious cycle,
And the road, it winds.
Stumble around in the dark for a while.
Which path will lead to light?

Seems like forever.
When the morning light won’t show.
Is it more than we can handle?
By tomorrow will we know?

Can we survive the flow of the river?
I’m lost in the water. I’m drowning.

She keeps on calling.
Are those days way out of reach?
The papers keep sellin’ their lies.
Anyway, let’s see.
