Brutal Nun

Brutal Nun was formed in the Spring of 2010 with the aim of bringing raw power to the Brooklyn scene. It began with drummer Brendan Mehan and guitar player Sean Farrell, but soon recruited bass master Connor Martinez. The music is most easily classified as metal, but there are a litany of additional influences including psychedelic noise rock, jazz, and atonal music. Many of the songs are in idiosyncratic time signatures, and often utilize interesting scales such as the octotonic and whole tone scales. The band is also extremely interested in improvisation, and the live performances of many songs have been likened to jam band proportions. Despite this fact, the music remains unpretentious, raw, and in your face. At the end of the day, Brutal Nun exists solely for the purpose of rocking your ass off.
