'Reunion Of Sorts' wins Songwriter Universe
"Song of the Month" Contest
10/1/2003

"'Reunion Of Sorts' is an impressive, uptempo, modern rock cut, which features strong vocals by Master, and crisp, dynamic production. The song has an inventive, witty lyric story based on an actual college reunion that Master attended."

- Dale Kawashima

"austin's jb&sandy morning show - mix 94.7fm"

"I was fortunate enough to see him live when I was up there in October. UNBELIEVABLE SHOW! As you all know, I am a big Toad the Wet Sprocket fan and he and his band sound just like them".

- dj digitz

"NYRock.com"

"There's a large sound to this disc...You can sense a nod to the Beach Boys, or Phil Spector, with each song providing an abundance of information to the ears. Bryan Master writes pop songs that have good hooks, at times they can sound familiar.
For example, "Californ.I.A" sounds like it could have been penned by Brian Wilson himself. Where Master does shine is in his lyrics. He's adept at spinning the stories.”
- Bill Ribas

Bio

defining the meaning of ‘singer-songwriter’, bryan master enjoys the freedom of crossing musical boundaries and having the guts to blur lines. this 27-year-old multi-instrumentalist blends an eclectic mix of rock with the melodic world of pop. from quiet and haunting to edgy and raw, bryan pulls from a myriad of influences creating a collection of songs that’s a little of everything – but always intriguing and catchy.

despite being slightly under the mainstream radar, he has scored commercial and national public radio airplay, recorded with legendary musicians, won songwriting competitions and opened for grammy-nominated artists. with long blonde hair and a quirky upside-down, left-handed guitar habit, this troubadour has spent the last four years traveling back and forth between new york city and los angeles writing, recording and performing at some of the top clubs on both coasts. armed with an arsenal of songs on his back, bryan now lives in l.a. and is playing somewhere right now in support of his sophomore album, incommunicado, independently released in the fall of 2004.

bio
growing up in a south jersey suburb of philadelphia, bryan was studying the trumpet and piano by the age of eight…his first drum set soon followed. with every spare adolescent moment, he taught himself the art of percussion. in 2000, after five years as drummer for new york city band ‘mother bacchus’, he left the band and began playing city venues as a solo, acoustic act. his passionate live sets, catchy songs and thoughtful lyrics would immediately begin attracting audiences.

bryan independently released his debut album, lost at sea, in 2003. the culmination of a quarter century’s worth of life experiences, the title alone sums it up – a collection of songs about being young, coming of age and feeling “lost at sea”. the majority of the recording took place in los angeles with bryan performing nearly all of the instruments himself (drums, piano, guitar and vocals). recording in acclaimed hollywood studios cello and studio 56, he attracted world-class musicians such as renowned bassist phil chen, who lent his talents to the project. with stand-out tracks ‘reunion of sorts’, ‘now or never’ and ‘bring out the stars’, cuts from lost at sea have won songwriting contests and received national radio airplay.

bryan spent the majority of 2004 recording his sophomore album, entitled incommunicado. again, performing almost every sound on the record, he delivers seven songs centrally grounded in how the ‘simple’ art of communication affects relationships – relationships with others, with oneself, and with the world around us. to be released in the fall of 2004, incommunicado is evidence of growing steps in both song-writing style and musical direction. bryan continues to tour both solo and with backing band in support of the new album.
