Bio

Bryce was born and raised on Vancouver Island. He traveled extensively throughout his twenties with Vancouver as his home-base. He acquired a trade, studied marketing at BCIT and then went on to the corporate world for a stint in sales. Along the way he’s been a die-hard snowboarder, an actor, bartended at clubs in England, rebuilt homes in Japan and France, and has been dj’ing and manipulating music since childhood.

With such a broad spectrum of acquired skills under his belt, Bryce was able to cultivate his vision of opening a forward thinking and urbane world class martini lounge. Spring 2004 brought this vision to fruition with the opening of See Sound Lounge in Belltown, Seattle, designed and built with his own hands, alongside partner and girlfriend, Kristi Anderson.

As host and resident dj, Bryce has opened his room to aspiring young dj's, a slew of seasoned dj/producers as well as International players such as David Alvarado, Kevin Yost, Jay Tripwire, Fred Everything, Gene Hunt to name a few. He’s also done well for himself outside of See Sound Lounge, opening for heavyweights such as Derek Carter and Kenny Glasgow as well as headlining multi-thousand person events for Smirnoff’s ‘Experience’ series in Vancouver and Toronto. A definite career highlight and boost of confidence came when he was asked to step up from opener to headliner in Toronto when Scumfrog cancelled due to the sars outbreak, dropping a 3½ hour set of Chunky Tech-House and Breaks to an appreciative 3000+ crowd.

His musical background includes the Saxophone, Trombone, guitar and drums. His first remixing consisted of recording loops back to back, from vinyl to tape, from his sister Barbi’s dance records when he was a teenager. He finally picked up a sampler in 96 and officially started Dj’ing in 98 while living in Brighton Beach, UK, bartending at The Beach Club and Escape Club amongst residents Lottie, Fat Boy Slim, John Digweed and Danny Howells, a very pivotal and exciting point in his clubbing timeline.

Deeply rooted influences include electronic pioneers New Order, Happy Mondays, Cabaret Voltaire, Orbital and Chemical Brothers, darker influence coming from the likes of NIN, Prodigy and Massive Attack, with strong House and Techno influence coming from Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Derek Carter and Mark Farina.

Bryce has devoted the better part of this millennium to refining his production skills. He has licensed some if his work to TV commercials and is poised to release a few earfuls on vinyl. Some breaks, house and remixes, along with a series of bouncy, genre-bending poppier numbers. With a growing list of international friends, agents and dj’s, he has positioned himself to contribute on a higher level.

The opening of See Sound Lounge has sent Bryce down a deeper and wider road as a Dj, to familiar places and to new and exotic places. With so much opportunity to play, he has broadened his ear and music collection to include deep French, German and Italian grooves into his UK and West Coast influenced sound. A sound that will be represented by his label, Challenged Recordings, through a cd series of ‘See Sound Lounge’ live mixes in the coming year.

He’s only just begun.
