Bubby Jackson - Bio
Out of a quiet little town in the Northeast corner of Maryland comes a very talented young musician.
At only 23 years of age, Bubby Jackson has accomplished more in his 7 short years of playing guitar, than many veteran guitarists have accomplished in a lifetime. A drummer since the age of eight, 23-year-old Bubby picked up an old guitar he found in his basement and found that even with only four strings on it, he could play lead as if he had done that for years. He knew right away he was destined to be a guitarist.
He had always admired the great blues & rock guitarists and found it was effortless to emulate their leads. He began playing out in his father's band in clubs all over from Washington DC, to Philadelphia and everywhere in between. While still in High School, 2000, he entered the "Guitars on Fire" Competition in Salisbury, MD. His rivals were veteran blues guitarists, many of whom were three times his age. He walked away with first place and did the same in 2001.
To his surprise, he found he had been linked on www.dirtyblues.com a website dedicated to many of the great young blues guitarists, Jonny Lang, Monster Mike Welsh, Kenny Wayne Shepard, etc. Most of who were all older than Bubby. Calls started coming in from all over the place, people inquiring about Bubby and his talents and his availability for playing shows. He also headlined on the same bill with one of Bubbys younger idols Jonny Lang at the Delray Beach Garlic Festival, in Delray Beach, Florida.
Bubby's uncanny natural ability to pull off just about any Jimi Hendrix song in a manner that Jimi himself would be proud of; Bubby follows in the footsteps of other great blues and rock guitarists. But Bubby also has his own musical talents that reach far beyond just emulating the greats before him. Bubby has his new CD coming out shortly with the sounds of todays rock with a blend of yester years thrown in to it
A rare treat to behold, Bubby Jackson is carrying on a tradition that most young people his age do not even understand or even know of. When you see him play live, you will understand.
