Buddy

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Buddy has been in band playing multiple instruments such as the trumpet, drums, clarinet, trombone, baritone and piano. However, he didn’t realize how much passion he had for hip hop. Rapping at the early age of 9, Buddy and his cousin would rap over cassette tapes in which Buddy would loop Kriss Koss songs until they created an instrumental. Though others around him, including his sister, listened to hip hop artists like Tupac and Biggie, his parents listened to other genres. He grew up in a household where his father primarily listened to 80’s rock and his mother favored various Motown artists. As a result, Buddy began to develop a meticulous ear for composing music.
Buddy started composing music after acquiring a videogame entitled, “MTV Music Generator 2,” for Playstation 2. He continued producing music until they released the sequel, “MTV Music Generator 3” on Xbox. The sequel allowed you to sample songs, which intrigued Buddy to focus more on sampling. His cousin B.Cali was tired of Buddy calling himself a producer and decided to bring over popular computer software “Fruity Loops” (FL) a week before Buddy’s 13th birthday. Buddy didn’t like FL because he considered it to be too basic. As a result, B.Cali brought over “Propellerhead Reason 2.0” (Reason) and the rest is history. Buddy has been using Reason diligently ever since, upgrading when possible, and continues to be a sample based artist to this date.
Currently producing more than rapping, Buddy has executive produced more than 10 projects over the last 5 years. He hopes that one day his determination and drive will cultivate into a career that can be appreciated. He looks forward a day where he can be financially stable strictly off his music and be able to travel around the world changing lives with his production. Happiness is the long term goal for his musical successes instead of fame and fortune. Until then, his story is to be continued.
