Buddy Roc is pulling from diverse musical influences heard throughout his Lancaster, PA upbringing that include Nas, Boyz II Men, Prince, Latin Freestyle, and the epic quirkiness of video game scores. While singing in a series of R&B groups helped to craft his vocal and lyrical skills, Buddy’s love for video game music in addition to his beat making experience and University of the Arts composition training contributes to the overall Heartbreak Kids’ sound.
“What we want is to be in pop culture but at the same time just underneath it,” explains Buddy Roc, referencing contemporaries like Childish Gambino and Kate Faust who have strong cult followings and value connecting directly with fans. "We make music for the broken-hearted. For the lonely hearts."
