"Buel"

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I performed to a Venue full of strangers to replace someone who canceled their show. It was very last minute and I didn’t have my guitar with me, so I borrowed an acoustic guitar and played six songs. After I finished my set people stood up at their seats and applauded for longer than usual; then there was a line of people who wanted to talk to me about how they felt about the songs and told me that we had a very strong connection during the performance. I remember it being my proudest moment. Because nobody in that room was expecting me to play, and I neither was prepared nor felt like I was in the right mood, but I just let myself be in the moment and sincerely felt what I sang then people felt it. It was amazing. - Voyage LA

Bio

BUEL is an alternative-pop artist based in Los Angeles. She started to play in public when she was 12, playing guitar and singing in her band. Around the same time, she also began writing short stories and essays that were eventually published in her school’s magazines as well as local newspapers. These compositions would go on to become the source for some of her cryptic lyrics. Despite having a successful school life in terms of grades, she always felt disconnected with her environment and made plans to leave everything behind and start a new life in another country. To make her dreams come true, she wrote a song called ‘Peace of Mind’ that speaks about her desire to live independently and leave everything that tries to strain her. Luckily a music manager from Dayton, OH discovered her music on a music blog and offered her a record deal through a local label he works with. Not having a place to stay or any money, she just took a chance and bought a one way ticket from Turkey to USA. After living an adventurous 5 months in Ohio, BUEL was able to build a considerable following in Dayton.  While she loved the opportunities this presented her, BUEL always knew that the heart and soul of the music business was in Los Angeles.  Deciding to a take a “hit the ground running” approach, she played live in LA the night she moved to the city. Drawing inspirations from artists like Kurt Cobain, Bjork, Meredith Monk, David Bowie, she evolved a stage persona for her quirky, non-confirmative, eccentric style that speaks about themes similar to Rick&Morty, Woody Allen. Her messages include ‘not taking anything including herself seriously’ and expressing cliches in her satiric writing style.  Outside of Los Angeles, BUEL has also had the privilege of sharing her music in Miami, New York, Austin, Orlando, Ohio, and Arizona at various bars, clubs, and festivals. She self-released her singles; I killed Something, Bad Poetry, Chat with a Cloud and Advice on Youtube and Spotify. These songs helped her gain publicity and a fanbase despite her low budget promotions.
Currently, BUEL is working on her EP, slated for release in 2020.
