Bio

Buffalo Moses was originally born as a 5 piece rock outfit on the gold coast in the early 2000`s.
Since those first days of rehearsing, gigging and several name changes, Buffalo Moses has
taken on many forms from a 4 piece, trio, duo and now as a lone solo identity. With members coming
and going due to commitments elsewhere, the name Buffalo Moses has now stuck with Todd Keightley,
as a solo original performer. Before and after the band was established in the early 2000`s, Todd was
performing live solo gigs from as far south as the snow fields at Falls Creek in Victoria, to the white
sands of Agnes water in the north.
With residencys at the Fortune of War and the Observer hotel in Sydneys Rocks district, to
Noosa`s café strip and Brisbane’s pub and valley scene, Todd has earned a reputation as a hard
working, passionate and easy going performer who puts his all into every gig. In 2003, Todd`s first
EP was released. `Given`, was recorded in an old family caravan on a deserted beach at Agnes
Water, where Todd had chosen to exile himself from society, gigs and life in general, to concentrate on
writing and recording. During these 6 months of self discovery with no mobile phone, TV, computer
and no newspapers, he penned and recorded a total of 24 new songs, 7 of which are on his new
album, `Throwing Fire at the Sun`.
On many occasions Todd was to revisit the caravan with his guitar, surfboard and dog Marley to
find solace, freedom and to write and regenerate himself, before taking on extensive periods of road
trips and gigging. Todd was to go on to release 3 more EP`s over the coming years, these being
`Exile`, `Buffalo Moses` and `Radio Stain`, all of which were sold at performances and released
independently. In 2006 after a self imposed exile from performing live, Todd began the slow process
of recording his debut album. With a semi-sound proof room built into the back of a friends shed and
hours of recording and re- recording being done, the songs for `Throwing Fire at the Sun`, slowly
started to take shape. A total of 22 songs where recorded in that 12 month time frame.
Unfortunately for Todd, a horrific head-on collision in his car on the freeway after a recording
session with his bass player on the gold coast, left him not only unable to walk and confined to a
wheel chair for several months, but also unable to perform for the next year. During the next year
of rehabilitation and recovery, Todd continued to throw all his efforts and money into completing his
debut album.
With additional recording, mixing and production all taking place at the White Room Studios in
Brisbane with producer Neil Coombes, the album was finally completed in October 08. The album
was then mastered by Don Barkley at Benchmark Studios Sydney in November 08. With the
artwork completed, the album `Throwing Fire at the Sun`, is now available at gigs or by contacting
Todd via his email address, fudkeaters@bigpond.com or at www.myspace.com/buffalomoses.
At present, Todd continues to promote and perform his originals around South East Queensland and
Northern New South Wales and has an on going residency at The Central Hotel in Bundaberg.
