"John Gribbins on fire!"

"John is a young musician I can safely say is one of my favourites locally....Often have I had it mentioned to me that he has the potential to be a great songwriter, and I can’t see any reason to disagree." - www.pavelware.com

"Fallen Arches"

"with an acoustic guitar and a trailer load of quality songs those who stop to listen are rewarded with a style and charisma not normally associated with most in his genre. On stage he bears his soul and of particular significance is not afraid to let the world know that being a musician isn't necessarily all its cracked up to be - Fallen Arches plays out like a biographical tale of the pains endured; namely sore feet. With musicians of this kind one can be tempted to dwell on the fact that its too low and mellow but that just means you have to listen to the words and the heartfelt emotion a little more intently - and Mr Gribbin has both in abundance. Gathering Dust plays out like one of the more adventurous and uplifting of the tunes despite the weighty issues undertaken but with such a huge tally of material there really is something to suit the needs of everyone" - The Mid Ulster Mail

Bio

“with an acoustic guitar and a trailer load of quality songs those who stop to listen are rewarded with a style and charisma not normally associated with most in his genre.” - THE MID-ULSTER MAIL.

John Gribbin, a 23 year old from County Derry, Northern Ireland is ‘Building Pictures.’ He has been writing and performing music since he was 18, and the alias of Building Pictures has allowed for a range of different styles of music from folk to indie to dance and beyond.

2008 was a great year for John.

The Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission (NIMIC) selected John to be part of a team of songwriters placed in a cottage for the weekend to write music together under the guidance of established songwriters like Iain Archer (Snow Patrol co-writer) and Eleanor McEvoy (a co-writer of the best selling album in Irelands history).

One of John’s songs ‘this corner of the room’, was chosen by a London television production company for the soundtrack of a new teen series called ‘Aislings Diary’. The series was broadcast in autumn of 2008 at a prime time slot on RTE1 television station.

The same song has within recent weeks been commissioned for the sound track of a new television show called ‘Flat Mates’ which will be aired early this year on RTP, the country’s leading public broadcast channel

John was chosen to perform at the Glasgowbury music festival, the premier festival for Northern Irish talent, which this year was headlined by Ash.

As a member of his brother’s musical alter ego ‘Joe Echo’, where he plays lead guitar and provides backing vocals, he has recently supported The Script in their home town of Dublin.

Just recently John has been given the opportunity to provide backing vocals on the soundtrack of film ‘Heartless’ which is due for release in 2009 starring Jim Sturgess (who recently played the lead role in hit film ‘21’).

Currently John is recording his debut album in his home studio. He hopes to perform, record, and mix the whole album himself as he has done with the huge majority of his material that he has recorded to date.
