Despite witnessing his sister's heroin overdose, completing many stints in jail and living a childhood blurred by his father violence and mother’s alcoholism, rapper Bukkcity is no victim. He doesn’t crave pity, or even understanding - he's simply sharing his story and trials with the Hip Hop community.

Starting out with no more than hopes, dreams and pads full of poems and lyrics, Bukkcity is now finally on the verge of accomplishing what he started out to do, and that’s to "stand up and be counted” amongst the growing sea of up-coming new hip hop artists.

Bukkcity (real name Andre Knight) was born in Canberra Australia to an Afro-American father and South African Mother.
Bukkcity’s parents moved the family back to Jersey NY when he was one year old, forcing him to face street life from being uprooted several times and being brought up in a single parent home with his mother and 4 sisters.

Against Bukkcity’s will his mother forced him to move back to Australia to live with his sister at 22 after many altercations with the law, that followed with many visits in and out of state penitentiaries for varies reasons. His move to Melbourne was a major crossroad in his life which he now says was probably the move that saved his life.

Bukkcity made a name for himself when he would battle on the radio Station PBS 106.7 in 1998; entering many underground freestyle competitions in NY, which is where Bukkcity developed his vicious sharp punch lines putting his opponents to shame.

Featuring on mix-tapes in Sweden, Germany, Atlanta, New York and North California, Bukkcity has created a growing swell of followers which made him one of the most viewed unsigned hip hop artists on myspace Australia.
As people become more aware of Bukkcity and his lyrical credibility, they realise this is an artist which is armed with an unusual combination of both a sledge-hammer street attitude and an open heart sensitivity that will eventually force you to listen, even against your will.

Through all of Bukkcity’s previous obstacles, a jail sentence for over a year for assaulting an under-cover officer, dealing with his cousin being shot in a gang-crossfire in NY and his baby sister Abby’s heroin overdose, Bukkcity started as a misguided kid and has come out the otherside a man and ready to take on anything in his path.

So, now as a free, smarter, more dedicated soul, he will without a doubt make a serious debut in the Australian Urban industry and nothing will stop Bukkcity, for he is now accepting responsibility for his life, his career and his music “Tha Bukk Stops Here”.
