Sebastian Bäverstam was 6 when he performed his first full music recital at Harvard, just about the same age as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Then, skip a few stanzas to last fall, he took the breath away from a surprised audience who came to hear him play his cello at the Grace Church Concert Series in The Plain. They thought they were in for a nice good-night lullaby. No dice. Bam! Who knew a cello could do that...Bäverstam composed the music he played at Grace in the fall. Bulletproof Cello aka Sebastian Bäverstam is a cellist and songwriter who is tearing down traditional barriers between genres of music. Using his conservatory training, he has compiled a band using cello as the front, a keyboard/synth and a drummer. The scope of his sounds are truly genre defying.
Since performing concertos at the age of seven, Bäverstam has always wanted to use his skills to reach a much larger audience. Having completed his training in Boston, he is now applying compositional techniques in a setting that will change the course of music history.
