Bull in a China Shop

BandEDMRock

We strive for the atmosphere to be like a party as you listen, and we aim to deliver satisfaction to all of one's senses. We mix dance beats, with a funk and rock feel, and we use melodic vocals in combination with vocals that stem from old school rap.

Biography

How does music make you feel? Our journey is to discover and share the power of sound. Sometimes when you hear a song, it can remind you of an old feeling, or perhaps make you feel a way you've never felt before. Our first full-length, "The Drone of a Tired Engine" explores music's position in our society, and attempts to reject the notion of technology as a means to limit creativity, but rather explores how new ways of thinking can set you free from the shackles of status quo.

Influences include NIN, Pink Floyd, Bright Eyes, Depeche Mode, Brand New, The Used, The Beatles, The Goo Goo Dolls, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Doors.

We start with a simple formula, and then expand outward; Experimenting with different compositional techniques, including theme and variations, songs that slowly build to a climax, pop hooks and refrains, and also more abstract formulas; also, exploring composing with electronic percussion that transfers to live acoustic percussion, and vice versa.

Played first gig with Cobra Starship and Men, Women, & Children. Featured Artist on Medicated Clothing's site.

Discography

We self-released a four song demo that got radioplay on WIUP, The Pulse, and student stations across the U.S. as far as Hawaii, as well as some in Canada. The disc included our take on Peace Frog by The Doors, and three originals. In December of 2006 we released our self-recorded and self-produced 7 song EP entitled, "Let's Get Out of Here Before the Spirits Escape" and was supported by an east coast tour which created a solid fanbase. Our new full length album "The Drone of a Tired Engine" is set to be released in February of 2008, along with a music video for the CD's first single, "Euphoria". 14 tracks, 39 minutes. Tracks available for download and streaming at www.myspace.com/bullinachinashoprock. Also featured as a launch artist on the new P2P file sharing network, Shazzle.

"Let's Get Out of Here Before the Spirits Escape" set:
Our set starts with ambient sounds from the synth and guitars, then segues into our first song, "Little Cuts, Big Wounds." That's followed by the clean guitar intro of "Made the American Way," and then into "Frankincense and Myrrh." Utilizing one of many pieces of stage choreography, we immediately go into our ambient, space-like musical interlude, which includes acoustic percussion. That's followed by our current single, "I'm your density," and another short interlude before "Perfect Picasso." Our set finishes with the band trading solos in the outro of "Iguana." Depending on the show, we have our cover of "Peace Frog" available for use.
