Biography

When you think about fire you think of something that has sustained heat. When you think about a gun you think about the impact it could give ones life regardless of the outcome. When you think about B.U.M.P. Johnson you think about all that was mentioned above. B.U.M.P Johnson (named after the alleged villain from the movie Hoodlum) grew up in South Side Jamaica Queens and been influence by music since his adolescent stage. This Queens dweller certainly shines amongst the elite. Crafty, witty and very vivid on the way he explains on what he would do to you in a violent act, makes B.U.M.P Johnson word play comical yet serious. B.U.M.P is also an acronym for Banging Underground Music Properly. Something B.U.M.P does very well. You can see this in his performances. B.U.M.P brings forth an energy that’s rarely compared to no one. He makes you feel his joy when it’s sunny, as well as feel his pain when it rains. His attitude complements his hunger to be heard when on or off stage. B.U.M.P has won many freestyles battles on top of sharing the stage with today’s hottest artists, such Twister, Akon and Lil Flip. Being well seasoned on performing his arts, assisted B.U.M.P to give the crowd what they yearn for “Truth & Difference”. He’s been doing shows since 95 in and out of NYC. He dropped jaws in Richmond VA @ Cave, shocked audiences in Atlanta GA @ Club Dirby, opened up for TI @ Ft. Valley University’s homecoming. He was invited to perform at the legendary Kurtis Blow open mic showcase @ Willies Café (numerous times). Some of the other clubs B.U.M.P expressed his hunger was @The Lab, Nells, Platinum Lounge, Clementes, Remote Lounge, Club Rare, City Club, The Pyramid, BBQ’s, Downtime – sponsored by 91.9 FM Urban Threshold (in which he won the Freestyle Competition), Club A, Club Speed as well as opening up for Fat Joe at the Rap to Vote Concert @ the HSBC Center in Buffalo NY – which was sponsored by 93.7 FM and Hipnotic Entertainment. B.U.M.P has also been nominated for an Underground Music Award (UMA), for best upcoming male Rapper. B.U.M.P made a cameo appearance on Trace. TV an international Urban media brand for urban youth that is successfully building an international network in music, Hip-Hop magazines and TV.
B.U.M.P has also put out many projects: WELL CONNECTED, THE WORST OF B.U.M.P., B.U.M.P GOTTA LIL BETTA and B.U.M.P AHEAD OF THE GAME. As well completed projects with his company mates Hostage Musick. HOOD LIFE, FORCEFULL ENTRY,HOSTAGE MUSICK PRESENTS: 108TH ST. IMPRESSIONS he also appeared on 91.9 FM as a featured artist multiple times. All in which gained B.U.M.P the notoriety of an artist that’s truly hungry. B.U.M.P Johnson embraces the atmosphere only the real can detect and identify. His hostile fashion classifies him as the aggressive one from the company. Growing up in Queens all his life B.U.M.P Johnson came to experience the hardship and everyday struggles of living in South Side Jamaica however remained clever enough to elude the law. Unfortunately at a young age B.U.M.P had to endure with the untimely lost of his father with-in the same streets he himself struggled to survive. Nevertheless the lost of his ole’ dad fuelled his desire to achieve levels his father would of certainly applauded.B.U.M.P (in which he’s called by many) is a prototype that’s not hard to figure but in the same sense not easy to judge. He’s formal no matter what situation presented. Being dramatic with a theatrical sense of ability to be the best is very familiar with B.U.M.P, and with bars like: “MY KNIFE.. IS LIKE A JAGGED EDGE, LIKE THEM R & B SINGERS, F@#K AROUND LOSE AN ARM OR SOME FINGERS” and controversial lines like “SHOOT YOU IN THE SIDE OF YA FACE MAKE YOU LOSE YA LEFT EYE, LIKE T-BOZ AND CHILLE, WITH THE MACK MILLE LEAVE YA CORPSE IN PHILLE. B.U.M.P is indeed a force to be reckoned with, if not he forces you to reckon with it!!!
