Der Hedonismus ist auch nicht mehr das, was er mal war. Abgefuckt erklingt er aus schäbigen Kellern, in denen Postpunk und Electro plötzlich in einer dunklen Ecke verschwinden. Als sie wieder auf die Tanzfläche kommen, stellen sie sich als Bunny Lake vor.
Kurze Zeit später betreten sie die Bühne, Dr. Nachtstrom lässt energische Synthesizer auf satte Beats treffen und Christian Fuchs´ tiefe Stimme steht in angenehm groteskem Kontrast zu den lasziven Vocals von Suzy On The Rocks.
„The Late Night Tapes“ – das erste Album der Wiener – ist eine surreale Gradwanderung zwischen düsterem Pop und eingängigem Electro. Glamour und Trash finden darauf ebenso zu einander wie Horror und Disco – und hinterlassen kalten Schweiß auf erhitzten Gemütern. Produziert und unterstützt von Gerhard Potuznik (u.a. Chicks On Speed), lässt man Laid Backs „White Horse“ in neuer Dunkelheit erstrahlen.
Neben der Single „All That Sex“ sei aber insbesondere der martialische Opener des Albums empfohlen: „When you fell down / I let you bleed“. Die kleine Blutlache auf der Tanzfläche will einfach nicht trocknen. Wienerblut ist anscheinend wirklich dicker.

Die Location ist mies, die Drogen gestreckt, die Cocktails hochprozentig und billig, der Eintritt dafür umso teurer. An diese Nacht wird man sich trotzdem gerne erinnern. Falls man dazu noch fähig ist und die Sonne überhaupt noch einmal aufgeht. Dann kann man auf Bunny Lakes Trip zurück blicken, auf dem sich glamouröse Synthies und stoische Beats begegnen, man frönt dem Exzess zwischen Industrial-Electro und Post-Punk, dimmt die alberne Clubbeleuchtung, reicht das Mikrofon untereinander weiter und lässt Laid Backs „White Horse“ an der versifften Discokugel widerspiegeln. Auch Abstinenzler werden sich der aufgeladen Stimmung nicht entziehen können und erstaunt feststellen, dass dieser morbide Soundtrack des gepflegten Absturzes nicht der Londoner Szene oder dem New Yorker Underground entstammt. Stattdessen zeigt sich das feine Wien von seiner dunklen Seite. - IQ Style

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of BUNNY LAKE. File under: Blues Electro, Rave-a-billy, Haunted House. Music for packed dancefloors and throbbing hearts alike. Music that tells lurid tales of insatiable desire, of the fever of irrationality, of opposites as inextricable as exciting.
With the successful tracks "Disco Demons" and "Strobe Love", the collective from Viennas hot Electro underground rocked the planets rave'n'rollers, made the playlists of DJ icons such as Mark Moore and Boris Dlugosch, was feted by Mylo and Laurent Garnier.
With "The Church Of Bunny Lake", their latest album, SUZY ON THE ROCKS, CHRISTIAN FUCHS & Co. gave the adventure that is pop a further twist. Decisive input came courtesy of producer CHRISTOPHER JUST. The legendary DJ-Gigolo (Kitsuné, Chicks On Speed) managed to perfectly fuse the bands rock'n'roll-obsessions with his euphoric Techno aesthetics, without succumbing to any tired crossover clichés.
Several exciting collaborations came next: Both Japanese Electro icon Shinichi Osawa and star-DJs of the Brazilian Baile Funk scene remixed various BUNNY LAKE tracks, renowned Dutch avant-garde filmmakers and media artists from New York collaborated with the bands on new videoclips.
Worldwide reactions were manifold, enthusiastic, and occasionally bizarre. Texas strip joints sent ardent messages, Japanese Electro kids dropped their jaws. BUNNY LAKE shows in jammed late nite spots in Berlin, Amsterdam or New York followed, complete with spontaneous acts of crowd participation such as artists rolling around on the floor and couples of all genders making out in front of the stage in various combinations.
Fast-forward to even more acclaimed gigs in sundry locations including the German Popkomm and the hottest clubs of Prague, Budapest, Munich, and Estonia. And on their celebrated tour of Mexico the band managed to get just about anybody dancing, from the spoiled Acapulco party crowd to a gaggle of enthusiastic favela kids.
More recently BUNNY LAKE began work on the songs for their third album, with the first single scheduled for release in late summer. More than ever this time around it's less about fashionable poses than about melancholic flashes that intrude from the harsh reality beyond the partyzone. And, obviously, it's about love, too. For, even if the band polarises by its use of glam quotes, its way of presenting itself, and its game of auto-dissipation, what SUZY, CHRISTIAN & Co. are really after is to seduce, bewitch, and embrace you.
